I am posting this because through all my searches, this is the information I was looking for. I know it's out there a lot, but I wanted to read every story there was so I could know ALL of the possible outcomes.
At 5 weeks I began spotting brown. This of course was very alarming and I was brought in to get hcg levels and progesterone levels checked. It turned out that my progesterone was low 11.4 and I was prescribed 200 mg progesterone suppositories once a day. The spotting became bleeding and continued all week with no cramping. After a few days on the progesterone the spotting/bleeding stopped. My hcg levels rose normally. I was brought in for an early ultrasound at 6.5 weeks. I had both abdominal and TV. They were able to see a sac at that point but no fetal pole and no yolk. At this point it was discovered, however, that the bleeding was caused by a Subchronic Hemmatoma (SCH).
At my 8 week appointment, again there was a sac but no pole or yolk (a blighted ovum). The doctor informed us that this was abnormal and in most cases this is not a good sign. However, he wanted to give it some more time and to check again in a week because the sac had grown and there was some discrepancy on implantation dates. Unfortunately at the follow up appointment at 9 weeks there was no progress and the pregnancy was deemed not viable, a missed miscarriage
I opted for a D and C the next day. It was a relatively easy procedure with little cramping and not alarmingly heavy bleeding.
This was my first pregnancy after trying for 10 months. We had begun to look into fertility testing and felt so lucky to get pregnant naturally. We are heartbroken but being able to learn more information empowered me to know what was going on with my body. I hope this is helpful to someone out there. I wish you better luck than this experience. I count my blessings and know we will have our time in the future.
Re: my experience (SCH, BO, D and C)
I got pregnant in January. I would be almost eight weeks right now. My HcG levels were not rising as they should have been the results of the ultrasounds only measured 6 weeks along every time. So there was no growth of the baby between a two week period and no heartbeat or fetal heart tones were present.
