Can you ever have too much of these

I'm on BuyBuyBaby this morning and I got a email saying that are having a huge sale and then I get an extra 20% off. I wanted to know if you can have to much of burp cloths, bibs,  wash cloths, and hooded towels. Haven't had shower yet, and I'm sure I'm going to see some of these, but I want to get them because they are on sale and I think it is something that I will need a lot of.

What are your opinions and are there any other items that I will need a lot of.

Re: Can you ever have too much of these

  • Yeah! We bought one pack of reusable diapers to use as burp cloths. We used a few wash cloths and needed maybe 5 hooded towels. You really don't need a lot. You don't bathe baby everyday bc you want to preserve the oils in their skin and such, so no need to go overboard. Save the coupons and such for yourself for things you'll need in the future. Stuff to make baby food, or utensils for eating, or sippy cups, etc.

  • So what about bibs?
  • I'm not a huge bib user. I have a ten and a half month old daughter and if I'm feeding her something messy like a puréed food I am putting it on a spoon and straight into her mouth... And I've gotten to where I can get it all in her mouth without making a mess... And if she is feeding herself it is either something that isn't messy or that I have to take her clothes off for because babies get food everywhere not just where the bib covers... So I never really saw the point
  • Okay- so here is a tip no one ever shared with me about bibs: If you don't use them, you probably won't be able to re-use the clothes (or re-sell). I know, sounds SO freaking obvious. But bibs always caused a rash on my daughters neck because she was an adorable little chubster and they would chafe. So I said "Screw it! Not worth it, it's just a onesie". I mean I wasn't feeding her in her easter dress or anything. But- now that I'm expecting again, I feel bad even trying to donate her old clothes because they're all stained. And I would love to have my kids in a few of the same shirts just for cute pic opportunities, but that doesn't exist. I have a friend who always used bibs and she's selling her kids clothes for hundreds! And I feel like a butt bc all mine are so crappy I can't even donate!

So, it's ultimately your decision about what works for you- but just consider all the options. I've found what I like to do best is feed the baby naked. So I don't plan on buying bibs this time around. But that's me. A lot of kids have zero issues with bibs.(Also, bibs are needed even before they start eating bc around 3 months they find their fist and start gnawing and drooling SO MUCH and they will literally soak through bibs and clothes, so consider that too)
  • Bibs depend on if your lo is a spitter. My dd had awful reflux and spit up all day every day. We went through 5-8 bibs and burp cloths a day. I had to get tons ore but I wouldnt start out that way. BBB always gives 20% off so don't let that rush you. A sale is always good though.

  • I am a firm believer in bibs! I have 3 boys and ad a PP said it def preserved cliyhes to reuse as hand me downs... also, my kids were super drooley. If they didnt wear bibs theyd get pimply rashes on their necks from the dampness. Plus, less outfit changes!
  • Bibs definitely depend on the baby. Same goes for burp clothes. We never really used them but my nephew is 4 months old and spits up constantly. They go thru probably 8 bibs a day.
As for hooded towels, we just used our regular towels. A lot thicker and larger.
  • I say get bibs. When they start teething they are drooling machines, and wet clothes on skin can cause irritation and rashes. So you can change the bib or you can change the clothes. Honestly, I did a little of both..

Then when they start solids they're messy. For a long time. Bibs do catch almost all the food because they hang right below their mouth. But, a little food can get other places, too. I roll up DD's sleeves but she'll still put hands in her food and then in her hair.
