Don't want to sound superstitious but...fun light topic

Similar mindset to the dog thread... Does anyone feel like people just know you're pregnant; especially kids? My nephew kept smiling and said "Mommy" pointing to me. It was cute but interesting as he just turned 2 and has no idea. I'm of course looking at kids different myself so that's more than likely it. :D

Re: Don't want to sound superstitious but...fun light topic

  • Before we found out, we had dinner with a couple of friends and their baby.  A few weeks later after we found out and told them, she (wife) said that she had told her husband on the car ride home that she thought I was pregnant.  I had been nauseous (I thought I was car sick) and she said I wasn't quite acting like myself.  Maybe she just had major mommy radar from having a baby of her own in the last year!

  • Yes! Not so much kids, but there was an older lady, kind of my pseudo grandma, she was very special to me, she saw my mom and I days after we found out and I hadn't told my mom yet, and Dorothy, the older lady, asked, "Jess, are you pregnant?!" So of course I said no, because no one knew yet except my husband and I.

Sadly, we were going to go over and tell her about the baby on Sunday afternoon, but she passed away Sunday morning. I got to tell her older sister who is also very special to me though at the funeral yesterday and it made her day. That was a blessing at least.
  • Not a kid- but still weird/cool- but my best friend had a dream that I was pregnant right around the time that we concieved.
  • I think people know. Haven't you ever spent time with a couple and just felt something was up? There was something just a little different? I was at a party in December and two friends of ours came for about an hour. They were super mellow and happy and were gone before the second bottle of Champagne was open. I said to my husband that they were expecting. I just knew it. They announced last week! So, you're definitely sending out a vibe that is being picked up on! As for your kids, I'm sure they feel something! They are super intuitive.
  • When I told my close friend last week that I was pregnant she told me she had a dream last month that I was pregnant! I would have just barely found out myself when she had the dream.

Also slightly similar to this thread...my oldest nephew has guessed the gender correctly for his brother and every cousin he has ever had (2 girls and 2 boys). It's kinda crazy that he has been right every time! I can't wait to tell him and see if he guesses this one correctly. :)
  • I swear it's like they can smell you lol. I had a couple of people tell me before I even knew I was pregnant. I wonder what it is.

Same for me! Someone I have only met a few times in the past was at the super bowl party I went to, so this was at maybe 9 weeks preggo... I definitely wasn't showing at all. As soon as I walked in she asked her husband if I was pregnant and said I just had "a look about me". Also had someone else I know say they could tell I was preggo in early January! That was before I even knew haha. Weird. I don't have that sixth sense lol
  • My mum had a dream I was pregnant.

The next day I found out I was... Weird.
  • On valentines day a little girl who was about 15 months old was waiting beside us at the resturant and kept grabbing my husbands hand and holding it...it was so weird her grandma looked at me and asked me if I was expecting a girl because she had never seen her granddaughter do something like that! No clue yet, but I guess well see!

"Maybe pregnant women release a hormone or pheromones or something and others subconsciously equate it with pregnancy without actually experiencing anything with any of their five senses. (I love science lol.) " @WDDCH

I wonder.. It's more than ironic. Aside from the nephew story; I work in retail and a woman called me out in front of other employees. I said nooo, but later pulled her aside to tell her. She wasn't even impressed because she said she knew and was so certain. SCIENCE!
  • I've always been a total kid person, and I've always gotten along with kids wonderfully (people have been using "maternal" as an adjective to describe for pretty much forever haha), but it seemed like right after we found out and we were around SO's family, the kids were extra all over me! Especially a couple of the little boys. Then on Groundhog's Day - my parents have a shindig to watch the Bill Murray movie each year - I would have been about seven weeks. I visited my parents and one of my mom's friends was there with her four year old son. I saw him a lot when he was a baby, but after moving away a few years ago I haven't seen him a ton, just special occasions. He's usually very shy and sticks around his mama, but this time as soon as I walked in he was all over me! He was calling to me when I was in another room, he was chatting up a storm and he decided during the movie he wanted to sit by me and he snuggled right up! I don't know what it is, but they sure seem to know something is up!

My oldest daughter kept saying mom you having a baby and sure enough I was pregnant both times but this time she said I smelled pregnant
  • After I announced at work I had a co- worker say, "I knew it! I was thinking last week that you looked like you were pregnant." Now understand that I am super skinny, so he wasn't talking about my stomach, just that i had a look about me. That would have been before I even knew myself. It's weird for sure.

  • I've always known with friends and colleagues way before they announce. I tried to explain it once but I couldn't, they're just "different" from what they're normally like. Like a very slight change in behaviour. It makes me wonder if anyone has figured me out yet? :) we're announcing in a couple of weeks
  • Nothing from kids but I had a coworker ask when she was going to get to see my baby about a week before I found out.

My brother also mentioned it because I said I had to go home because my boobs hurt.lol. his response was you're probably pregnant.

My mom's dogs definitely know. They're beagles and they usually howl when anyone comes in even though they know you but they're quiet when I come in. Also if you feed them table food with your hands they're kind of clumsy and excited so sometimes they accidentally nip your finger but today I was feeding them breadsticks and they took it so carefully to make sure they didn't hurt me. The male also climbed on my lap about a week after I found out and slept there for a couple hours (the only person he ever sleeps with is my little brother)
  • My daughter is only 1, so she doesn't understand, but she started getting a lot more clingy right before we found out. I think children/animals have great senses for things :)
  • On NYE, 2 days before I found out I was pregnant, we had family over. My 4 year old niece asked me, "Auntie, why is your tummy so small if you have your baby in there?" I thought it was a little weird, but didn't think much of it until after I found out! Now I'll never forget it! I told her mama, my SIL and she said it isn't the 1st time something like that has happened with her. My wise little niecie <3 I think it's pretty special!
  • Last time I was pregnant on the day we were gonna have the twelve week ultrasound my four year old son crawled into bed with me and said: 'mommy, your boobs have grown and your belly has too. I think you're having a baby!'
Sadly that pregnancy ended after 23 weeks. But now (6 years later) I'm 11 weeks and everything is looking great!
  • I have a younger brother (9 yo) & a younger sister (8 yo), but I haven't told them about the baby yet. A couple weeks ago, my brother kept saying to my sister "I don't believe our friend is aunt!". One of these times, he asked her "Do you think we are going to be uncle and aunt too?". She answered: "Yes, when Didi's belly starts to grow. Unlesd it already started, but she hasn't told us yet!". When my mother told me that on the phone, I asked her if there was a chance that she had heard het talking about my pregnancy, but she says no!!
  • My dog knew before we did. She's about 40 lbs and has never been a lap sitter. For the two weeks before we found out (so around weeks 3-5), she got really protective and always wanted to be literally right on top of me.
  • One of my GFs who I haven't seen since she was a BM in my wedding just randomly text me and asked me when I was going to have a baby. At the time only me and DH knew.

Then my mother was away visiting my aunt for Christmas. When we told my mom we were pregnant she immediately called my aunt and told her she was right. She mentioned to my mom that I was pregnant and thats why they were eating everything in sight, lol.
  • One of my employees will not stop bringing up babies and saying that I should have one. It's like she knows!
