Anterior placenta and kick strength?

So I have an anterior placenta, and I'm happy to say I've been able to feel baby's kicks and bumps for a week now daily - sometimes just a few times a day, other days like today consistently throughout the day. But, they're still super muffled kicks because of the placenta.

Anyone who's had experience with anterior placentas, when does it become more pronounced? I'm sure if the placenta wasn't cushioning like it is they'd feel stronger and both DH and I would be able to feel them on the outside.

Just curious about other people's experiences.

  • I'm just going to observe responses bc I have the exact same question!

  • I have a stupid question.. Does anterior placenta mean your placenta is in the middle of your stomache?
  • the placenta attached to the front of your belly covering that area, instead of on the side or the back of your uterus. Usually means you feel movement later because everything is muffled by the baby kicking at the placenta.

  • I had one last time and this time. The further along the more you will feel them. But they will always be muffled.
  • My first had an anterior placenta and I didn't feel her move until about 21 weeks. My husband couldn't feel her kick till almost 28 weeks. But I know it's muffled the whole time because this time around the placenta is at the back and I feel this guy move all day and night and it is so much more intense. I had forgotten about the first time being anterior and was wondering why I feel this guy so much more, but my husband reminded me.
  • I also have an anterior placenta and have only been able to feel slight movements and it happens infrequently. I'm 19 weeks along. I am so excited for feeling stronger kicks so hopefully it doesn't take too much longer!!
  • I have an anterior placenta and the kicks are pretty strong and startle me sometimes. I am 20 weeks.
  • I have an AP and have felt movement for weeks now, I'm 20 weeks today and feel her moving and kicking much stronger. :)
  • I also have an AP and felt the first kicks at about 17 weeks. I am 21 weeks now and it's gotten a teeny bit stronger but I can feel them a lot more frequently. My OB said that since I have an AP, when I get further along I will feel her kicks more along the sides of my stomach and down really low and warned me that it may feel like she's kicking my vagina.

....cause who doesn't love a good vagina kick? Oh wait... ;)

  • I have this too. Mine is in front and low. I am 20 weeks tomorrow and I have felt nothing. I'm not really worried because c going to sleep is hard enough for me, at least I don't have to worry about getting kicks all day.
  • I don't know where mine is located but I haven't felt much of anything.
  • I have AP and I can feel her below and on the sides. I think I saw her kick once but I couldn't be sure. I'm 21 weeks today.
  • I also have one but mine isn't directly in front. It's more to the right so I feel him a lot on my left side and also lower.
