Our daughter was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 48 hours old. We have no family history and it came as quite a shock. Not to worry everyone, but just a heads up of the risk factors:
Breech babies
Females
Family history of hip dysplasia
First born children
Low amniotic fluid
High birth weight
It is diagnosed in 2 out of 1,000 babies, the sooner it is found, the better. Right now she's in a brace and wears it 24/7. It may be worn 2 weeks or a year, depends on her next orthopedic appt results.
