Trying to Get Pregnant

What are you doing to stay busy?

Hey! So I'm not in the TWW at all or anything like that, I just had a miscarriage at about 8-9 weeks along.  I had a D&C on Thursday and was told to wait a cycle to try for a baby.  I don't think I am going to wait just one cycle, it will most likely be 2-3 cycles.  I want to truly be able to emotionally handle it and give my body the time it needs to heal as well.  But in this time of waiting to try basically, I was wondering what you ladies might be doing to keep busy while you're trying, waiting or whatever you have going on.

I have been remodeling my basement for the past few months, we're at the last stages of adding barn doors to the bedroom, quarter round for the finishing details of the trim since we installed laminate flooring.  And also trim in the bedroom needs to be finished up around the closet door frame.  We're going to add cabinets and a counter for a dry bar in the living room, and the stairs need flooring added to it, be it carpet, wood or laminate.  (still figuring out what we want to do with them)  I've attached a picture of what it looks like and it was around christmas time.  We painted, added the board and batten, changed the door frame to the bedroom, new flooring, furniture (besides the antiques I already owned) and rugs.  I'm loving how it's turning out and hoping to completely focus on it for the next few months.

I'm also in love with thrift stores, so I've been searching them for new nightstands I can re-finish and also a dresser.  I get quite distracted by the adorable photo frames I can fix up and random decorative pieces.  Anyone else love doing little DIY projects?

  • I try to get wrapped up in good book series while waiting. Helps to keep my mind busy. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything that will hold my interest so far this cycle.

    All the best! :)
  • I'm sorry for your loss! I haven't started TTC yet but preparing my body for it now I guess you could say.

I love your renovation! I also get wrapped up in home improvement pretty easily. Right now I'm trying to create an organization wall with calendar, chalkboard, menu for weekly dinners etc. I also keep checking these boards daily and just ordered the fertility book everyone is raving about to help pass the time.
  • I am sorry for your loss.
I am not TTC until next year. I read, focus on my kids, my dogs, my husband, the bump.... get my body as ready as possible.
I am emotionally ready for a child now, just timing is not right for our family at all
    Thank God for Raid.

  • I'm in a similar place. Had a mc several months ago and been ttc ever since with no luck. Passing the time can be excruciating. I mostly spend time with my husband, our dog, and binge watch tv shows.
  • I'm sorry for your loss.

I work 50 hours a week and I'm a full time student. In between that I bump, and have various craft projects I'm working on (refinishing furniture, DIY artwork and I make wreaths and things) and I just recently got back into the gym.

Hey ladies! I know this is an old thread but it's my own thread! So I thought I'd bring it back to the front page. The things you're all doing sound wonderful to stay busy. It's finally spring here and all the snow is melting so I decided to find some thrift store nightstands to fix up. I've added pictures of the process. I started with them as a boring wood color and painted them wih chalk paint white, it gives it a great antique look when you're up close to it. I just love them right now.

Also I noticed a lot said they're reading books, anything you might recommend to a not so avid reader?

I hope you're all staying busy in whatever wait you're in, if you have any tips or advice to make this process easier, please share them!
