Dealing with high blood pressure or Preeclampsia

Hey ladies, so I have been having a rough past couple of days after beening sent home from twice within four days. I had a massive bloody nose while on the floor at work, I work at Fred Meyers. My boss took me into the back room and being a mother herself, told me I should go to the pharmacy and check my blood pressure and go home if it is too high. So I check my blood pressure and it is 186/108, and so off I go to triage. And after all the blood testing and 24 hour urine test they said they think I could potentially be in te beginning stages of Preeclampsia.. I will have another doctors appointment tomorrow to figure out were we go from here but I can't stop worrying! Any other moms going through anything similar to this? Or have any advice on how to get a grip on this. Thanks!

  • I was put on bedrest at 7 months and strict bedrest at 8 months (lay only on left side and you can get up to do more than pee, not even to make dinner) with my first because of this. He ended up coming 3 weeks early but I was suppose to be induced. I hope all your test come back good! Being in bed all puffy (your start to retain ALOT of water if it is pre-e) is no fun! :(

  • @soofttie what were ur sxs with pre-e??
  • @soofttie what was your blood pressure at when they decided to give you bed rest? What symptoms were you having?
  • I had pre eclampsia with my first. It hit at about 28 weeks and I had bed rest and then I was induced at 37 weeks because of how bad it was getting. My blood pressure ran about 160-180.
  • @Harperdawn did u have any other symptoms?
  • I was very tired and lethargic. Swollen everything! Other than that not many symptoms.
  • I'm extremely dizzy with lots of swelling! I checked my BP and it was 135/80 so maybe I'm not staying hydrated enough!?
  • I was dizzy drink a lot of water and see if that helps!
  • @Harperdawn I def have to try that. I can barely function my dizziness is so bad :/ Feels like a pressure pushing and pulling in my head
  • I know the feeling . We just did all the testing last week and all came back normal but I was very dehydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and take it easy! Hope all goes well for you:).
  • I'm kind of in the same boat right now. 28+5 today, saw midwife yesterday due to having blurred vision and aura with headaches only on the right side for the past week and I have been excessively tired. I don't have elevated BP yet (well its higher than normal for me right now but still within normal range). They did find out I do have protein in my urine. They said sometimes what I am experiencing is the early stages and the BP elevates as you get into the last part of pregnancy. I have a neurology consult today just to rule out anything on that end, but for now I have to have weekly checks with my OB, and depending on how I'm doing at each visit will determine how we will proceed with the rest of the pregnancy. I hope everything goes well for you!
