  My lo was doing the same thing. I rock her and wait until she's fully asleep & quickly/quietly put her in her RNP. it takes about an hour .....Hope it gets better! :

  Mine is very picky about where he sleep also. Like @amack22 said, I do the waiting game a lot. Let him fall asleep on me and put him down when he's fully out. Sometimes he wakes up again and we start over. I know it's frustrating but hopefully it won't last TOO long. Good luck!

  I also let mine get in a good sleep on me at night after a feeding. Once he is asleep I swaddle him up and make sure he is still asleep. I will then put him in his bassinet. It usually takes an hour to an hour and a half every feeding at night but he will sleep for 3 sometimes 4 hours after on his own. I had to do this same thing with DD too.

  The other part to this is sleep training, which is heart wrenching hard on tired mamas. My recommendation is to get LO cozy and sound asleep like previous posters, then laid down in the desired spot. After that, if LO wakes and you're certain all she needs is to go back to sleep, delay your rescue by 5 minutes, then go and offer a soother, pat, rub/belly, shush for another 5 before picking the baby up for the startover. Slowly increase time from 5 to 10, etc and baby will start adjusting to putting herself back to sleep. With newborn infants, I tend to skip the first 5 for an other needs check and the not picking you up soothing half till about 6 to 8 weeks of age since feeling secure is as much a needs as food, hygiene, and warmth.

  You won't. She'll get used to being separate from you as she gains independence. You can also try sleeping with one of her swaddlers/blanket sleepers (as can your fiance). Then her jammies smell familiar and soothing.

  When I wrote the above comment, I was feeling so bad a** because I moved her from RNP to PNP and she was still out like a light. She woke up 20 minutes later and I gave in and left her back in RNP so mommy could get some sleep. Sigh.

  I know that it's tough but I would not try sleep training (waiting to start soothing) this early. Most babies cannot self soothe until between 3-6 months so the chance of a newborn putting themself back to sleep is slim to none. By delaying your intervention you will likely just be adding on to the amount of time you spend putting your LO back to sleep. I've found that if I start soothing sooner, LO doesn't get as worked up and is easier to put back to sleep. Once she's worked up, it takes exponentially longer to get her calmed down.
