Epidural/c-section medication allergies

FTM and 37 weeks 4 days preggo with a little boy. I was talking with my husbands friend the other day about allergies. I mentioned I am allergic to most painkillers (ranging from horrible scratching to pretty severe respiratory issues) and a lot of medications in general (even basic antibiotics). I've had 3 surgeries in the past for Crohn's disease and the only thing they could give me was morphine. When it comes time to deliver my little boy (whenever that is), I do want to get an epidural if going vaginal. My husbands friend questioned whether I would be able to have one due to my allergies.   I'm even thinking if I have to have a c-section, would I be able to due to allergies? I really don't want to go natural.   I have an appt. next week and will of course ask my ob/gyn and may even call her before then, but do any other ladies on here have allergies to medications and could still have an epidural or if you had a c-section what did you do medication wise whether during the procedure and after? This issue never crossed my mind for some reason bc I haven't had any major medical issues in a few years to have to be on any heavy medications. Any thoughts and experiences would be great..thanks!

The medications used for an epidural or local anesthetic (numbing) are different than your analgesic pain killers. I'm not a doctor or an expert by any means, but I am allergic to the entire Caine family, and so a local anesthetic or epidural is not an option. However, I'm fully available to be pumped full of whatever else they have available to take the edge off. If A c-section was necessary, they would use a general anesthetic. I imagine, you're the opposite based on your symptoms (allergic to some analgesics). Keep in mind, ppl have been having babies long before pain killers. The pain comes in waves, and there is relief in between. Your body was made for this, without modern day medication.
