A name that works in English and Russian

Hi! My husband and I cannot agree on a name for our second.

Our first son is Declan Vikor – English first name and
Russian middle name. Now my husband is not happy that no one uses his middle
name and he wants baby number 2 to have name that works in English and Russian.
I really want to pick a traditional, yet not too common name from the UK (I
really like Elliott).

So the names we have found so far that work in both
languages are:

Arthur, Alex, Daniel, Damian, Nick, Max, Michael

I find all of these names extremely boring with the possible exception of Damian. But I don’t really like the idea of having Declan and
Damian. Any thought or other suggestions?

Can you use the Russian versions of those names? I might be wrong but isn't Michael Mikhail? I think that works in English and I'm sure there are others.

I'm in the same boat...trying to find a name that works in English and Greek!

@daniellelea1985 yes, Michael is Mikhail so that name would work in both languages. But I hate the name Michael! I am just not liking anything that works in both languages.

@BlessedMomma07 I do like Nikolai, but I am not crazy about Nick which I know it would be shortened to.

You could shorten it yourself to Nico. Generally if a nickname is established, people will go along with it.

Teacher "Nikolai, do you go by Nick?"

Nikolai "No, I go by Nico"

I have a cousin named Andrew that refuses to answer to anything but Andrew. People try to call him Andy or Drew all the time but he doesn't like it shortened. If you let people know in the beginning that you want him to be called Nikolai instead of Nick they will go with it.

I agree with PPs that you could correct people...Nico is a great nn, you can easily correct people and just say he's not Nick, it's Nikolai or Nico

@LNic5 Thanks for the suggestions. I do like Julian/Yuilan or possibly Theodore/Fyodor. I had suggested Theodore for our first and my husband said it was a crazy name and we could not have anything with a "th" in it. Now I can tell him it does actually work in Russian.

@BlessedMomma07 Love Sebastian/Sevastian! I never would have thought there was a Russian version of this one.
