Baby shower games

my shower is not a surprise and my mother asked me to pick out a game for it. I personally am not into games at all but since she is throwing it she gets the say. Anyone know of any relatively simply shower games that don't involve candy in diapers or guessing how many m&ms are in a bottle? Baby bingo is the front runner but I really hate that idea lol

Re: Baby shower games

  • You could do the one with clothespins that get taken away from people anytime they say "baby", and then whoever has the most clothespins at the end, wins.

There are a lot of simple timed games where people fill out information, such as a sheet with a line for each letter of the alphabet, and they need to fill in as many baby girl names as they can before the buzzer goes off.

Or I've seen a few where there is a tray with a whole bunch of random smaller baby items, and it's either a "Price is Right" thing with each item, or the tray is hidden, and people have to try to write down as many of the items as they remember.

  • There's also the string around the belly one.
  • We are doing baby gift bingo , string around the belly and the baby pins :)
  • I personally like The Baby Price is Right game.  Everyone writes down their guesses on how much different baby items cost (pack of diapers, Vaseline, pacifiers, baby food...) and the one closest to the actual total, wins!
  • We're doing the Price Is Right game, a blindfolded diaper changing challenge (relay race type of thing), measure moms belly, and a baby song game (a portion of a song is played that has the word baby in it and people have to guess the title and artist).  My mom really wanted to do the poopy diaper one (where different melted chocolates are put in the diaper and people guess what chocolate it is) and I quickly vetoed that.  So gross!

  • We did the relay race diaper change game and it was so fun! Our host placed my Mom and I in front of the room and then we had to pick two additional team members. The host did not tell us what game we were playing when she stood us up there which made it more fun. It was basically the older moms versus the younger moms. It was so hilarious seeing some of the team members practically slamming the baby doll on the table trying to change it as quickly as possible. We also did the traditional game where each table is given a gift and the host or the mom to be reads a story involving the words "left" and "right" in different sequences and you pass the gift around in the those directions and whoever ends up the gift at the end of the story takes it home.
  • At mine we did the pegs game, the string around the belly game, one where everyone gets given a bit of play dough and needs to make a baby and pregnant lady pics winner, the baby food game where everyone has to taste 4 cans of baby food and whoever guesses the most wins, and the picture game where everyone had to guess how old the pregnant lady was in her baby pic (but you have to know how many months you were in the pic). Yeah my mother Inlaw did a few games it was good :)
  • I am hosting one for my friends and wanted to do one on attributes that the mom hopes the baby gets from each side. It's really simple cause all you do is check the sides.
  • We did three things at a co-ed shower I helped host. We took pictures of the mom and dad (close-ups). Then people cut them apart to make pictures of what they thought the baby would look like.
We also made onsies. I wasn't a fan, but others were.
We also took pictures with words of wisdom on a chalkboard for them to save as a book later.

  • The play doh baby one is hilarious and gets everyone laughing and talking. I'll be picking best and worst.
  • I don't like games either. My sisters used an egg timer set for 2 minutes while I opened gifts. Whosever gift I was opening when it went off won. You would have thought they got called on price is right with how excited people got. I just hosted a wedding shower. We did guess the number of wine corks which was easy. You could do binkys, candy or something baby. As much as I hate games, I see how much people like them and it's a nice time passer for those that don't know many people.

  • Just had a (not surprise) shower this weekend.  My sister and I decided against having people divide into teams and make a diaper on someone within a time limit.  The idea is that it will get people laughing and the best-dressed might get a prize.  Could be fun with the right crowd I guess. We were worried about making work colleagues feel awkward.

What we actually did: Write a memory on an index card of something awesome your mom did for you.  Then we played baby charades (warning: most of the words like "stroller" were way too easy).

A Chinese friend of mine showed off her traditional tea gear and explained how it worked.  This isn't a game but did serve as a kind of activity to get people engaged who didn't know each other.  It fit into our "tea party" themed party well.
