I'm a FTM so no experience with this yet, but I've found Amazon to be very worthwhile. I've been paying for Amazon prime for 5 years now and it's well worth the annual fee. I expect that Amazon mom will be as well.
I definitely plan on using it, I have Amazon prime now so it's included but first I want to find a brand of diaper that works for us and the baby and then I will do the subscription.

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
We use it. Pampers is the only diaper my husband can stand the smell and it definitely saves us money. We also have 4 kids so we definitely use it... I'm a huge fan of Amazon though and use the subscribe and save and buy paper towels and toilet paper so I am stocked up and don't have to put that in my cart with 2-4 kids shopping with me at the store. We also buy things like batteries (4 kids worth of toys), diaper rash cream, wipes, kleenexes, ect. I would just remember to price check each time because prices go up and down. You can usually clip coupons sometimes too to go with diapers like huggies.
I heard that amazon mom is slightly better than regular prime - maybe a higher discount on diapers and/or registry benefits? It is free to add it if you already have prime. The issue is that you have to be the prime account holder. We have a household account but DH is the prime account holder so I can't add Amazon Mom. I'm gonna see if I can contact them and get this worked out but it's like, low on my baby to-do list. I use subscribe and save like crazy already for things like pet food. I know I will use it for lots for the baby! I also did an amazon registry besides Babies R Us. Certain things are much cheaper there.
I have Amazon prime and went ahead and did my registry thru Amazon (all my friends and family are far away - it just seemed easiest). So I did sign up for amazon mom since its a part of my prime membership. One bonus is that within 60 days of my due date, some items on my registry will become available for 15% off if DH and I have to buy them cause no one else did (it doesn't say all items, it just says 'some' and not which ones. But whatever, IMO). Also once we settle on a diaper then it does look like we will be able to save $ using the subscription. I honestly haven't looked into other products like wipes, paper products, etc yet, but I could see how that would be helpful for me as there are few options for shopping here (a Walmart, a target, a grocery store and that's it). A girl I know also has it and she says its totally worth it. Apparently you would also get emails on upcoming sales and items at discounts, and I know that sometimes amazon has stuff for a real steal, so I'm down with that
I have it only because I already have Amazon Prime and Mom is free with Prime. I haven't utilized it much yet, but plan to buy my diapers from there once I decide on a brand.
@mellymar - I just checked on the registry this morning about the completion discount (because I'd heard it was a one-shot deal and wanted details), and I did find an FAQ that explained what items count. Also, it explains how Amazon sorts your list for you and shows you what is included, and that list appears automatically on the primary account holder's screen when they log on after 60 days before the due date you entered.
So, point is, pretty much it has to be sold and distributed by Amazon to qualify for the completion discount. I wish I'd looked into that before I went and registered, because I have a lot of stuff on there that's sold by someone else! Things I don't really care about (like the car/backseat mirrors for example), too. So, more editing of the damn registry to come!

So we don't have a household account exactly (I didn't know they actually have those) but we use my husband's account as our default because he has Prime attached to it. So, he is the primary registry owner, but I added Amazon Mom to his account, no problem. Did you actually try and they wouldn't let you? (Or maybe more accurately if you weren't logged in on your H's account, did he try?) I can't believe you actually have to have a vagina to use that service; that seems illegal.
I hate to be "that" comment and I get how convenient amazon is. I have bought some things from amazon and will continue to at times. But I know there a lot of people on this board looking for work or struggling to make ends meet. Amazon takes a lot of money out of our communities, which takes away retail jobs, which in turn takes away other jobs. If you could find some local alternatives that are still reasonably priced you could be helping another family. I know this isn't always possible and I'm not suggesting all or none, just asking people to consider their local shops and employers if it might work.

I shop local as much as possible - we have an eco-friendly baby store just up the street that I love - but often, Amazon is cheaper and for my family, that is a major concern. I try to do everything in moderation, but I always go with whoever I can find with the best deal. I totally agree with you that local is best when possible, but if Amazon can deliver the same service for cheaper... gotta go with Amazon.

No, to clarify, I could add it to my husbands account, but realistically neither one of us want to have me logging into his account to make purchases. We maintain separate accounts and prefer to keep it that way. So that's why I'm hoping just to get Amazon to mark me the prime account holder if possible...
Those that do the subscribe and save option...what items do you buy? I know you have to have 5 items. For me, I have a hard time thinking of what else to buy besides diaper and wipes.

You don't have to have five at once. Right now I only have a type of coffee that I can't find locally on there. And I need to add my laundry detergent, but I still get my discount and automatic billing/shipping with the one item.
You can get less than five items bit you get a discount if more than five is all. Our months vary but we get deodorant, cat food, water filters for our fridge, breakfast bars... All kinds of stuff delivered!

Amazon is local for me - and they have done a lot for DH and I personally as far as the value of our condo! I still do a lot of shopping locally, and I am willing to pay more for things made in the US, and Amazon makes that goal easy. It's a complex issue, but it isn't all or nothing for most of us.
I have amazon prime and have been using amazon mom since it comes with it. I do the subscribe and save option with our diapers and wipes. And using that option it's cheaper then SAMs. Plus I get a few extra things like paper towels and batteries (4 children already as go through batteries like water) it's totally worth it for us b/c we live 43 miles from walmart. And 2 hrs from a SAMs. So this way I don't have to drag 4 children on that lovely long drive and then through the store.
I have no clue since I didn't start using the subscribe and save option until I started ordering diapers. Lol. But I do know if I have 5 items coming that month with my diapers being part of the 5 then it's 20%

And I rather give my money to Amazon /UPS/Fedex over Wal Mart anyday.
