Shamrock shake?! I keep forgetting about those... Thanks for the reminder! Some people say to not eat soft serve during pregnancy because of the listeria risk, but I've been eating a decent amount... I trust the machines are being cleaned.

Edited to say I hope you feel better!

  • What?! No soft serve?! I apparently missed the memo on that one. Baby likes ice cream and it makes my throat feel better since acid reflux has kicked in majorly.
Someone asked me if I was ready to be pregnant in the heat. Umm... I live in Nebraska. It is winter. If I am still pregnant in the heat, I might kill my OB.
  • No soft serve!? Ahaha never!! That is crazy talk lol but i could see why. And yes it's march so my favorite treat is out. Boy i am excited!!

Nebraska, huh? Where abouts if you dont mind me asking. I was born there and all my family lives in North Platte. Far away from me in WI
  • Wait - do you think the mint in the shamrock shake will increase heartburn? I'll risk it! ;)

  • I have bad heartburn...and it shockingly has not! Maybe its the soothing coldness and smooth deliciousness!?
  • I got another random..
Is it crazy to not want my husband to release inside of me!? I think i got this paranoia from an OB nurse.
I was in L&D for 12 hour straight contractions and before she gave me an internal, she asked if I had sex. I was like no? She was like good you'd be shocked and I want to be all prepped before diving in.
I was mortified and became disgusted like..oh my goodness. I couldnt imagine being a nurse and scooping sperm out or the sex smell you get. Damn nurse. Poor husband is using the pull out method.
  • @nicolerae90 I actually just had a friend tell me a story about that! Doing the deed sent her in to labor and the nurse did an exam and had to ask for an extra swab because there was so much. Poor girl was so embarrassed!

I'm on the fence about it though. I mean, if it works for inducing, then, hey man, sorry. :D

  • Lol..my hubby wanted some loving this morning since he hasnt had any for the passed month due to the pain. But i was like sorry love i have a dr app today...maybe tonight. I felt bad and i wanted my loving.time too but i just didnt want to go there on that one...lol!! :))
  • I'm with @noodlienoodles - if it works then oh well, I'll feed bad later
  • I have my 38 week appt today which I'm excited to see what my midwife has to say! Also, as much as I hate where my husband and I are stationed (Army family here), there is an awesome consignment sale twice a year for infant/children things--literally everything you can think of. A gf and I are going today to get a few things that P will need for a couple months but I couldn't justify paying full price for them :)

To weigh in on the mint subject--I have only eaten mint chocolate chip ice cream my whole pregnancy and haven't experienced heartburn until starting 3 days ago. :)
  • Oh, my thought for the day is that my MIL is on her way here to 'see the nursery'... Let's see if she can go a day without telling us something is useless because she never needed it, eh?

Oh gawd! Thanks but no thanks for the advice! Haha. I always just smile a ridiculous smile that I learned when serving tables/bartending and say something like, "well, we'll see!"

  • @dreyes4 haha my husband tried for some loving this lovely am. And i said the same comment. It can happen after our dr apt. I'm getting the group b strep done and an internal so we dont need things messed up here lol.
  • @Christina80xoxo Isn't anyone willing to come to you? :( I'm sorry.

  • @Christina80xoxo I definitely understand wanting your alone time and space. My in-laws have offered to stay with DH and me and I don't want anyone to stay. My mother and I don't really get along that well and she's a total B to my husband and she made it abundantly clear that she has no intention of coming for more than a day trip (my parents live 2 hours away). As disappointing as it's been to not really have any support/advice from her my whole pregnancy, I'm almost relieved that she isnt going to stay with us.

If anything, maybe tell your stepmom that you would like to go to your home but if it gets to be too much either you will come to their house or she can come help you for a couple days--if that's an option for you :)
  • @Christina80xoxo i hear ya on your own space!! Its easier to get adjusted at your own place!! Can anyone come to you to help out? Luckily you have a 12 year and is older to not get into mischief while tending to a NB.
I feel bad because my 13 yr old step daughter wants to come stay with us ASAP once DD is here and I told my husband no...i just need to have a week to adjust.

@noodlienoodles , I'm ok :) I have people that will come. My dad was serving in the Middle East when his other three grandkids were born, and he's really trying to be involved with this one since it's probably his last grand baby. So I kind of feel obligated.

@YoungDuo , that's a good idea. The stuff that bugs me is kind of silly too. She eats out every night, and I still want to feed my 12 year old home cooked food, she promotes formula and I really want to breastfeed. It's little stuff. I may do what you're saying. My dad is retired so he can come during the day, and if I need her she can come at night :)

I kind of feel like a brat lol
I have a great family and amazing friends, and a lot of women really have nobody. And I'm over here complaining about wanting to be alone ! :)
  • I agree about being at work, with nothing else on the mind but baby/labor/food/pain/breastfeeding!! I only have the rest of this week and next to go :) Unless she decides to come early (I'm due 3/20) and trying not to concentrate on the small human who's just kicking my ribs like crazy, also going to the bathroom at least once an hour...ay yi yi

We also have hubby's family who wants to come and stay... but I think they're going to stay at my parents house! Works for me!

Keep your heads up girls - there's light at the end of the prego tunnel!!
  • @christina80xoxo I totally understand wanting alone time or your own space. I actually have my husband take my 20 month old over to my moms every morning just to get some space for the day. My mom offered to stay with me for a week but I felt like it was better for me to be home alone(well with husband and newborn) and just relaxing as much as I can in between feedings. I have been catching up on my DVR shows and actually feel like I am recovering faster this time than when I had my son.

My random is this milk coming in business. My breasts are so engorged it is painful. I don't remember how long this engorgement lasts but I have been nursing like crazy to get it to come down but they are super swollen and ache. Oh the joys of pregnancy and motherhood.

Could you pump and save some? Does that help with engorgement? I have no idea about breastfeeding and pumping. This will be my biggest challenge (I think/hope).

  • @noodlienoodles I think I could probably pump but I've read that you don't want to do that too early on because you may get an oversupply of milk which causes a lot of problems for some moms. I didn't have that problem last time, in fact, I could barely get enough milk for my son to take to daycare the next day. I am just hoping this passes soon. Luckily she is wanting to nurse a lot so that is helping a little.

  • Even though dilation means nothing. I was so happy to hear i was 2 cm dilated. Why must you ask? Because i have never been able to go past a one on my own without pitocin. :)
  • My random was finding out at 7:00am (when I was walking out the door) that my school district closed school due to icy weather... I worked on grading most of the day then celebrated with a A THREE HOUR CONSECUTIVE NAP. It was AMAZING! To top it off Hubs brought dinner home and ice cream with peanut butter cups in it. Im usually the teacher who HATES ice/snow days but at 38 weeks... I needed a relax day.
  • I had a 5 hour conference call today - that was fun. Not. My MIL got to town tonight, SILs tomorrow and my mom on Friday. We go in for our induction tomorrow night and everyone is so excited and antsy for news. It's hard to believe this pregnancy journey is almost over, but I'm so excited to meet our little man soon.
