False Hope

so I'm 38 weeks today was in L&D yesterday they sent me home with you are progressing and it will be days... Now I'm back because contractions are stronger and they are telling me it's dehydration before they even monitor me. I'm extremely confused... Within the last 24 hours to be told I'm well in the way to... It's false labor...

I am willing and prepared to go later than 38 weeks but the mixed information is throwing me off. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I don't see my doctor until Friday but now I'm terrified to come in to L&D because I'm going to be the crazy FTM that literally has no idea when to go in :(

    They did the same thing to me and more than anything it's the distress of the emotional roller coaster they send us on. I bawled today when I left dr Cuz Thurs when I went in for stress test they said labor started and not to stop it. Dr said today he sees no signs of labor in the next week or two as I'm just now softening. Hate the ups n downs they throw.

    Well L&D made me call my Drs office to get the on call dr first before coming in. At my appointment on Friday my dr said I do not need permission just go. I did what L&D told me and called the dr on call... It wasn't my dr... But the dr said "you don't need my permission... It's not like I'm going to change what I do in the next 5 minutes just because you went in labor..." Needless to say I cried to the point of hyperventilation on the phone for bothering the dr on call and pissing off L&D by showing up anyways... Stupid hormones!!

    Are you timing your contractions? 4 minutes apart and 1 minute in length, for 1 hour is a good time to be on your way to the hospital. Time them. If you're able to make a call and talk, stand, focus on the call too you're probably not ready to go.

    Once you're in the midst of it you will absolutely know that you're completely ready.

    I second the other posters. If you can talk and stand and walk through a contraction then it's probably not time yet. Unless you live super super far away you'll still make it to the hospital with plenty of time to have kiddo :) good luck!

    Thats not always true about not being able to talk or walk. My contractions dont push me to that point. Due to having a high pain tolerance. Just time em.

    That's so frustrating :( I'm so sorry they are giving you conflicting information! How are you suppose to know if you've never done it before?! I would've totally cried and had a meltdown too!
    My advice is to try to focus on something positive. I got REALLY down this past weekend when I didn't have this baby (I'm only 40w1d now, but my first was born at 38wks!), so I've been trying to practice relaxation techniques and take advantage of the extra time to do things that I may not get to do for awhile (like bake!)

    Sounds like @klcarr19 's need to be stronger though.

    They do... I have a low pain tolerance so it's hard for me to gauge where they are suppose to be. I'm literally waiting until water is flying out before I go back :)

    Yeah my water never broke. They finally broke it at like 9cm so I could start pushing soon ... So it sounds like the general thought is time your contractions! That'll tell you when to go in

    I know! I am so disappointed and anxious bc I'm a FTM and nervous that I won't know when it's time to head to L&D. My husband and midwife both say I will just know but it's still nerve wracking! @-)
