Protein in urine

hi I'm 37 w and 6days. Due date is the 16th. Had my weekly appt and doc says I have protein in my urine and my blood pressure was slightly high. She took another pressure test before I left my appt and it was back to normal. My doc wants me to do another stress test and pee into a large container for 24hrs. I'm a little nervous. Has anyone went through this? Should I be concerned???

    I just finished my 24 pee jug test yesterday. There isn't any protein in my urine but I still have higher BP and a massive headache/dizziness so they told me it was gestational hypertension. For me i was at the hospital for triage/monitoring 3 days in a row (would go there for a couple hours only) and have to go back to my doctors on Monday. The nurse actually works at my doctors office too and said on Monday they are going to talk to me about potentially inducing. That's just me though! And as much as I know medically about this stuff and have mentally prepared I am still scared. But I have to trust that it's all going to work out and being 37 weeks at least I am full term!

    I did it twice with my first. Had high blood pressure too - finally one of the nurses noticed that I was involuntarily holding my breath and reminded me to take a deep breath! The collection is inconvenient but just take things one step at a time.

    This happened to me also at my appt on Thursday....high BP and protein in my urine.  I've also had nausea and mild headaches lately.  I did the 24 hour urine collection and they did blood work on Friday.  They are going to call me tomorrow to tell me if they think its preeclampsia or not.  If it is, then they will probably induce me this week.  Even though I am due in only 20 days....I don't feel ready to have this baby at all.  So scared!

    Thanks so much so much for the info ladies. I'm freaking out a lil bit. Also does it matter when I start peeing in this jug ?? It says I should start in the am is this true? @kris523sydney

    I did a 24 urine early in pregnancy to get a baseline. You need to start first thing in the morning bc that's when your urine is the most concentrated.

    Yes, start in the morning, but you are supposed to discard the first urine of the day.  So, technically, you are supposed to start collecting with the second urine of the day. 

    My doctor called today and said that my blood and urine labs indicated that I do not have preeclampsia, so I'm relieved :)

    That's great! I'll be done with my jug In the AM. Going to drop it off tomrw. And next appt is Saturday so fingers crossed all is well @kris523sydney

    I haven't had to do the 24 hr test but I have had some of the same symptoms. High bp my whole 3rd trimester and some traces of protein. I'm just over 38 weeks and Dr told me yesterday to be at the hosptial tomorrow at 4:30 to induce. Terrified, excited, shocked, and disappointed all at once. I so badly wanted him to come on his own, but sometimes that just doesn't happen. Hope things go well with you!
