Sleeping at night .. Positions/tossing and turning

hey ladies, I'm 16 weeks and I'm just wondering if anyone else is still sleeping on their stomach? I sleep on my stomach every night .. It's the only way I can sleep but I keep hearing mixed signals, some say as long as you are comfortable the baby is protected and others say it shouldn't be done.. Anyone have any info on this? Also I have been noticing I have been waking up 3-4 times a night to pee.. I don't drink a lot before bed and I drink a normal amount during the day.. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this too, please let me know.

  • I'm a stomach sleeper too! I was told as long as it's comfortable, obv it will get to a point where it's not!

  • My doctor told me to start sleeping on my left side. She kicks like crazy if I toss and turn too much.

I'm 15w4d and I'm still sleeping mostly on my stomach. It's getting to the point where it's uncomfortable, but even throughout my last 2 pregnancies I stomach slept until almost 20 weeks and then it was kind of half side/half stomach with a pillow between my knees.
  • I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and I still sleep on my stomach some.  I haven't talked to my doctor yet (plan to at the next appointment), but everything I've read says as long as it's comfortable it's OK.  I think it's different for every woman, because some women "pop" faster than others.

When I sleep on my stomach, I always sleep with my leg pulled up on the side towards my stomach (even before I was pregnant).  So, it's not my full weight on my stomach, which I figure is better.
  • As long as you're comfy it is fine. This is the first week where it's becoming uncomfortable to sleep that way which sucks because it's my favorite sleeping position. My body pillow will now be my BFF.

  • Lol I do the same! It makes me happy other people are sleeping like this.. I would obviously never want to hurt the baby it's just the only way I'm comfy :/ And being comfy in pregnancy is hard to do lol
  • I sleep on my stomach sometimes because it helps my hips feel better for some reason. But one or both of my arms winds up going to sleep and I usually sleep on my sides. I keep a pillow between my legs, which helps for comfort. You have to rearrange it some as you toss and turn but I think it's worth having.
  • I'm still sleeping on my stomach with a leg pulled up at 18 weeks every now and then. As for getting up, I'm getting up at least 2-3 if not 4 times a night to go pee and drink something!
  • I've always slept on my stomach. I figure as long as we're comfortable it's ok. When I sleep on my side I wake up with this terrible pain in my shoulders. So it's either stomach or back. I always fall asleep on my stomach and usually wake up on my back. And yes, I get up to pee at least 1-2 times a night. I cut off liquids at 7:00pm to try to ease this, but I have good nights and bad nights. I'm pretty sure it's only going to get worse as pregnancy goes along..oh well!
  • I'm usually a stomach sleeper too but when i found out i was pregnant at 6 weeks i stopped. I found it uncomfortable since i was so bloated. Now i'm 14 weeks and only really sleep on my sides. Which is ok at first but throughout the night i get sooooo uncomfortable and my left hip hurts. I wanted to get a pregnancy pillow but how well do those actually work?
  • I find it uncomfortable to sleep at all lol! My back aches all through the night and just makes it impossible to be comfortable. Not to mention my SO snores all night... But I wake up to pee because I have to go so badly in the middle of the night my stomachs hurts.
  • I'm 16w4d and can sleep like half on my stomach, with my leg pulled up to the side. Normally I flip flop between sides though throughout the night. Sleeping directly on my stomach is uncomfortable anymore, but was told only to do it till 20 weeks anyway. Sleeping on my back is the worst, my belly feels heavy and my back hurts, so I only lay that way for a little bit if I need my heating pad. I also get up at least once a night or early morning to pee.
  • I have gotten to the point where tummy sleeping isnt' comfortable anymore sadly. Even though my bump is barely there it just feels weird. So now with the help of the "snoogle" that my hubs got me for valentines day I sleep half on my stomach half on my side.
