Leg cramps!!

I have constant leg cramps and feelings like Charlie horses. Any thoughts??

Re: Leg cramps!!

  • Need to stretch and drink more water. I get the often, but notice them even more so when I am dehydrated.

  • I have severe leg cramps at any time in the time.  Worse at night.  I started taking magnesium and stretching right before bed.  I also make sure that I am drinking plenty of water, enough calcium intake, and eat bananas.  All this has helped, but has not made them go away completely.
  • Yep, calves and feet for me. Usually mild but annoying. I hydrate all day long so I figure this is just part of the deal right now. Simply standing up has been the best stretch/cure for me.

I agree with magnesium, potassium, and calcium! My prenatals only have 11 percent needed magnesium I realized so I just found foods to help with that and Bananas on the daily! I never had one then 5 in one night the other day and freaked.
  • I got one in the middle of the night and it hurt like hell, I was literally screaming on the top of my lungs. I read up on it and found that as soon as you feel one coming, you flex your foot and toes up high and toward your body it will go away. Work like a charm, haven't had it since. I do drink a lot of water everyday and I love babana so that also helps.
  • I got double Calf cramps yesterday morning. It was awful! I stay hydrated but am adding stretching to my night routine I think that will help.
  • I was getting them all night and day unill I changed my prenatal a to those that have more magnesium and I'm eating bananas. I literally can feel my legs start to tense up if I miss my banana ... Sounds crazy but works!

  • Lurking from June 2015 (due June 5)... Had these horrible foot and calf cramps until my doc put me on magnesium supplements. Was hydrated, stretching, and eating bananas and plenty of calcium. He said it's pretty hard to get enough magnesium through diet alone.

Hope you ladies get some relief!
  • I eat bananas for the potassium and stretch, if I can, I try to walk it off. However, I'm a heavy sleeper and don't feel it when asleep or its not that horrible when sleeping, but I know they must be doing something since the mornings I feel like my calves ache. Can't wait for these symptoms to.go away.
  • I catch them every night i guess I need more water
  • I was having terrible restless legs and leg cramps. Found out I was anemic and starting taking iron supplements. Both are now gone!
