feeling like I've no business being a mama

When my husband and I got pregnant we intended to. I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the things that we should have thought about financially before deciding we wanted a baby. And I know things always work out. There are those less fortunate than I and are doing fine. I'd just love some encouragement.

  • I would just add that for anyone, regardless of financial situation, there is never going to be a "good" time to have a kiddo.  I'm sure it's stressful for everyone at some level, so you're absolutely not alone!  In the time before the baby arrives, I would research all of the bigger monetary things you'll want to know in the first year (maternity leave, hospital + doctor charges, daycare, increase to insurance, etc.), so you can try to wrap your head around everything and have the full picture.

    Good luck!
  • Oh good lord. EVERYTHING baby related costs a million dollars. It's ridiculous.

It really is overwhelming. I mean, you have to push a human being out of your lady parts and then make that human a good human. Oh, and also lose the baby weight and clean your house.

Sorry- I can't really offer much encouragement now, other than to promise that once that baby DOES get here- so will all the encouragement you could ever need! Seriously. The day my daughter was born, I just had this serenity come over me. I was suddenly (for no reason) super confident in my mothering abilities, happy, in love with my husband- it was incredible. And that high lasted for a LONG time. Like, for well over a year. I think around the time tantrum started happening and dh started pushing for a second baby and he got a new job and picked up more hours.....I started to get more overwhelmed again. So I'm hoping this second baby will bring that peace again.
  • We intended to have the baby too, we were fine financially but things came up now and the plan isn't what it used to be.. It's rough but we're more excited than worried! My dad raised 6 children on minimum wage and we're fine :)

You can do it! The baby will need you more than money and i can tell you're a thoughtful mummy just for bringing this up
