Bath Freak Out

DD loved the bath! Would go in and play with her toys and splash around and laugh and then BOOM!!! Last week I put her in and she screamed and wailed her head off. So I tried putting her in with just water and she screamed, I put her in with baby wash she screamed. I took her toys out she screamed, put them in and she screamed. I checked the water, made sure the bathroom was warm enough...but she is still screaming!

Anyone else's LO have this issue? What have you done about it? Does ANYTHING work for you?? I can't take it!!! Her poor little face turns red and she cries so hard she can't breathe!

Re: Bath Freak Out

  • Ugh this was so my daughter the last week and a half. She always enjoys bath time but for some reason she flipped a switch. Couple days in she started getting really sick with a fever so I'm guessing she just wasn't in the mood for play time/bath time.

To ease her back into it i started telling her 10 minutes before bath time that we are going to take a bath soon. Then once we got in the bathroom I would run the water, have her test it with her hand then have her undress herself (which she likes). I put her in while the water still ran. She liked playing with the running water and pouring water on herself from a cup. Maybe the act of her being in control helped? She will be two this month.

That's all I got! Hopefully your LO gets back into the habit soon

  • Ps totally thought I was in April 2015 :) oops!
  • Oh wow, so sorry!  Did she have any kind of rash that might have caused pain?  Maybe just go for spit baths for a few days then try again?
  • Maybe you could try one of those spout covers that sprays water or some new bath toys to distract from the actual bath?
  • I'm going to find her old bath seat/sling and set it up in the tub and just fill the bottom of the tub up just enough to pour water on her so she isn't sitting in the water. She might have had a rash and so now she thinks it's always going to hurt. I could also try the seat/sling with the shower since I have the one with the hand held shower head. I bathe her every other day and give her the weekends off, maybe I'll just bathe her every 2 days or so....
