Gender Reveal Ideas?

I'm 8+5 right now, on the 18th my doctor will be doing the blood test to determine gender and I'll know for sure two weeks after that if I'm having a little boy or girl. I'm wanting to do a gender reveal party. Do y'all have any cute ideas??

Re: Gender Reveal Ideas?

  • A blood test to find out gender? I didn't know that was a thing. We did a cake reveal for our daughter which was fun. We didn't even know the sex of the baby, we had a nurse at the clinic call the bakery to tell them, so we were just as surprised as our family was! And my brother and his wife did a balloon reveal. A family friend (who was the only person to know) put a bunch of colored helium filled balloons in a box and my brother and his wife opened it in front of everyone and surprise, it's a boy! :) I haven't decided what we will do for this one yet. But both of those were fun. :)

  • I would not trust the blood test 100%. My counsin's blood test at 12 weeks (I think Panorama was the company) told her she was negative for "y" chromosome, meaning her baby was xx (a girl). At 18 week anatomy scan they saw her baby is a BOY. So. Just wait. She is due with her son at the end of March.
  • I don't know what I plan to do yet, but we should find out the gender right before my sons first birthday (unless they change my due date). I love the cake idea, but I don't think we need another cake at the party. I could just do the color inside of his cake. I don't know! I may do the balloon reveal.
Maybe they'll be some good ideas on here that I can use.
  • I couldn't sleep last night and started thinking about this. :) I am pregnant with twins, so I thought it would be cute for my hubby and I each to have 2 balloons-2 pink and 2 blue. Then we would each pop one and leave the colors of the genders we are having. For those having one, then one of you could have a blue balloon, and the other have a pink, then just pop one. Whatever you decide will be so exciting!! Good luck!
  • I like the cake idea aswell:) mostly cuz its an amazing excuse to eat cake. And pink or blue cake sounds like it would taste better then normal cake. We are going to have a bbq once it gets warm and have family over to reveal!
  • My doctor does them at the hospital. My first question was accuracy and he said it hasn't been wrong yet.
  • I'm wanting to find out with everyone as well. So it'll have to be a secret from me too. My best friend is a photographer and wants to get the surprise picture(:

Thank you for all your wonderful ideas(: I'm so excited!
  • I'm hoping to know before my vacation in mid May (i am 7 & 5 right now) so I might pick up a baby gift or item from a gift shop...maybe give the clerk the envelope with gender and have them wrap it up so I don't know either...but not sure yet...
  • With DD, we did two things. We had a cake made with the color center denoting the gender (traditional blue for boy and pink for girl). We also had little favor boxes because leading up to the gathering, I couldn't really decide how I wanted it to go. For the little boxes, I put white wrapped truffles in each box except for one. I put a pink wrapped truffle in the one box. Everyone opened their boxes at the same time, and the person with the pink truffle got to announce the gender. It was very cute and fun for someone else to announce the gender other than DH or me.

  • We have talked about having cupcakes and have our families bite into the cupcakes with us - all at the same time - to reveal a blue or pink filling. We have a cupcake shop in our town that can make them. I love the idea of everyone finding out together.

  • We have discussed two ideas so far. One is a big solid colored balloon filled with pink or blue confetti, which we will pop in front of our guests. The other sounds really fun, having the guests have a silly string fight, with either pink or blue colored string!
  • All of our family and friends live out of town and we won't be able to go home around the time we'll find out the gender ad we decided to to silly string! My husband and I will hold a white sign that says "it's a..." And our friends that do live in our city will spray the color of silly string at us! While video taping so we can send to everyone back home!

We don't know how we are going to get only the color of silly string we need to be ready I was thinking to cover the cans and take them all to the doc then have them put only the ones we need in a bag to use and a bag to not use!
