Not in my experience. They are just differnt on how they hold baby and how the weight is distributed on you while holding.
Some people like the baby bjorn, I found it great once my boys were about 6 months, but not so much when they were tiny.
I however loved my wrap!! Once you get the hang of it, it just seems more natural to hold baby for everything...I cleaned with my boys in the wrap and took them everywhere. Much easier to nurse with a wrap than the bjorn.
Also depends on where you live. I have both, but in Florida the wrap was uncomfortably hot. But if I were farther north, I could see liking the wrap more.
Carriers are great once the baby is a few months old, before then wraps hold baby closer to your body. Also I'm glad someone mentioned the crotch dangling, IF you do end up getting a bjorn only go for the brand new ones and not the older models for that reason.
The wraps just got difficult and inconvenient. But I agree with others the bjorn can be bad. I ended up falling in love with my tula which is comparable to the ergo. If you have friends with carriers I would ask to borrow them and then decide what you like best. It is just going to depend on what is comfortable for you and your baby and it may even change.
I am more drawn to the wraps. I borrowed my SIL's K'tan while babysitting my nephew and I LOVED it. They also had a Bjorn but I didn't care for it as much (it was kind of bulky, and it KILLED my back after walking around the zoo with my 3 month old nephew for 2 hours).
Since this is our first baby, DH and I decided that I would pick the wrap (because I would use it more often) and he would pick the carrier (since he thinks the wraps look stupid on a man, haha). I am going for the K'tan with the Moby as a backup (I'm worried it will be too hot for my southern summers and too much of a hassle to wrap), and he settled on the Ergo. He looked at the Tula and liked it, but it was a bit more than we were comfortable with spending on it.
The one piece of advice that I've gotten about wraps is that you may need to try a couple of different ones out before you find what works best for you and your LO.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but the baby bjorn carries babies in a way that harms their legs/joints. I forget the specifics but remember reading about it.. Not sure if that's changed. I recommend a carrier (ergo) and a wrap for when they are newborns.
I've tried on an ergo, Tula, ring sling, and wrap with a 10lb fake baby doll (idk about bjorns, sorry). For me personally the wrap (made out of a nice soft bamboo material) was way more comfy and it felt breathable than the ring sling and the ergo was also better for me personally. I see how many people think the Tulas are cute and all that but the ergo I tried on had mesh on it and that for me is huge because I get hot real easily now so that's mainly why I prefer that over the Tula.
So, I suggest you finding a baby wearing group that is local to your town/area because a lot of those will have a lot of different options to try on and someone is always willing to lend their baby for you to get a feel of it lol
I have two wraps, two ring slings, a tula and a stretchy newborn carrier.... so I guess I can't help you choose one! A lot of babywearers I know recommend ring slings for newborns, and I already know I love Tulas (Soft structured carriers) for older babies because I started wearing my toddler when he was 2. Wraps can be used for any age- though I haven't learned to use mine yet.

I had a sleep my, moby wrap and bjorn- didn't like any of them. My son didn't like the sling at all. The wrap even though I would tie extra tight would also end up too loose and I ended up holding it which defeted the purpose. I didn't mind the bjorn, my son liked, but I have a bad back and could only use for like 30 min before I was in pain. So for this one I will either not use one or try a baby wearing group or I've been looking and I'm thinking about getting an ergo, has good reviews and good support in back and hips.
I like both. Though I don't have a bjorn (hip dysplasia issues) I have a becco gemini and a Moby. I used them both often in the first 2 years, one was more convenient over the other in certain situations and I'm glad I had both a carrier and a wrap.
I had both and used the wrap thing once and totally hated it! We used the baby bjron as soon as he was born and had no problem, they usually have 2 different ways to wear it and one of them hold the baby's head. I didn't feel safe with the wrap, it never felt tight enough and I felt like his head was too loose with it.
Bjorn is terrible- I wish they would stop making them!! That type of carrier is referred to as a Soft Structured Carrier, or SSC, and there are so many much better brands out there. I see Tula and Ergo have been mentioned already- both excellent choices. I like to have a SSC, a few different sizes of wraps, and a ring sling- once you get into babywearing you'll see different carriers are needed for different purposes I love wrapping the most and it can be done from birth until whenever you want!! Literally. Some kids don't like to be wrapped once they start walking but others use it as a source of comfort up to 2, 3, 4 etc. As someone else suggested, find your local Babywearing group (before the baby comes!) and they can teach you different carries as well as show you the differen types and sizes of wraps and carriers. Good luck!! Babywearing is the best!!
And PS wrapping just takes some practice but where there is a will there is a way- if you really want to do it, you WILL get the hang of it. And most newborns do fuss while you're wrapping but once you're done and tied off they settle right in.

Bjorn has updated their design, most are unaware of this.
Define crotch danglers.. and do you know which models? I just inherited one...
It has a skinny base that doesn't support the bottom and upper thighs which puts baby in a "frog" position (correct baby wearing position) it leaves them "hanging", rather than comfortable sitting, just by their crotch.
