test for listeria

I had an uncooked hotdog without knowing the risks for listeria. Now I'm paranoid and even thinking about asking my doc for a test. Am I clearly over reacting?

Re: test for listeria

  • Yes, yes you are. Fruits and veggies can carry listeria.... You eat those don't you,
  • Yes. If you don't have any symptoms don't worry about it.

  • Do you have these symptoms? If no then don't worry your pretty little head.

  • Listeria is pretty rare. Unless you develop food sickness symptoms, don't worry about it, but you should probably cook your hot dogs... I'm kinda getting nauseous thinking about an uncooked one actually, but I'm not a hot dog fan in general...
  • If it was just opened from a fresh package your risks are very, very, low. Even if it was already opened your risks are still extremely low. I'd be more worried about the nitrates (which are no big deal either in moderation...) then listeria.

  • Don't worry yourself so much. The risks are so low. That is an interesting pregnancy craving, an uncooked hot dog.

  • uncooked hotdog is basically like eating bologna, if it was fresh out of cryovac sealed bag I don't think its a problem.

  • Hot dogs aren't uncooked. It isn't like eating raw beef. Hot dogs have been cooked or smoked
