Moms who have had c sections

so im supposed to go in tuesday for a c section and I'm soooooo nervous this will be my second child but the first was vaginal. Anyway I was just wondering for all moms who have had a c section how was it? Better or worse then you thought? How long were you in the hospital? Anything you wish you brought with you to the hospital?

Hi! I'm sure you will get some answers, but I also wanted to share that there was just a great discussion on this. It's still on the first page. It's titled so scared..c section

    Good luck! :)

  • I JUST had my first four days ago. Same boat as you, my first child was natural vaginal birth. I was scared outta my mind, it was unplanned and I wasn't mentally prepared at all. The anesthesiologist will have a nurse help you lean forward, spine out (c curve). You will feel a bee sting type prick. Lasts for a few seconds, then another quick bee sting. As he injects, you will feel a deep full pressure - not painful, but strange. Then you're done! They lie you down, and prep you for surgery: shave area down there, put on hair cap, catheter, give you some oxygen, etc. My husband said by the time they let him in, I was already opened up. I never felt a thing. Just weird tugging and pressure. Baby is usually out in the first few minutes, then the rest of the time is closing you back up.

Healing hasn't been too bad. I was crazy itchy all over as the drugs wore off. TAKE THE STOOL SOFTENERS! I haven't been taking as much pain meds, as I really do not want to get constipated. I got to shower after 2 days -gross! I'm going home after 3 days -yay!!!

Wish I brought my own pillow, towel, disposable wipes (since I couldn't shower), socks (they make you wear leg compression casts to prevent blood clots), boppy pillow, and lip balm.
  • My first was a c-section. This one will be too. @KD32412 explained it perfectly. The recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. 3 day hospital stay for me too. God luck ! It is definitely a weird sensation, but it's ok:)
