Flying While Pregnant?

I have to take a flight for work in April (I'll be 13 weeks), and I am getting nervous about it. I never fly, so I am a little out of my element anyway. Any tips/tricks for flying while pregnant? Should I be worried?

I flew a few times when pregnant. It's fine. Just pray for no turbulence it may make you more nauseous than usual. Also I just went through the regular metal detectors as opposed to the crazy scan thingies they have now.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. They only say no flying for pregnant women when you get close to your due date because they don't want you going into labor at 30,000 ft. So at 13 weeks you will be fine. I agree with PP about avoiding the crazy full body scans, and make sure to bring lots of snacks to help deal with the nausea. :)

I flew frequently with my first and second pregnancies and will be flying cross-country on Tuesday. Drink lots of water, it's easier to get dehydrated on a plane. If it's a longer flight, get up and stroll the aisles. You may want to request an aisle seat so you have easier bathroom access. Bring lots of snacks-dried fruit is a great option.

I flew with DS and I am flying with this one. Snacks and water are definitely a good idea. I went through the scanner cuz the TSA officer said it was safe but now I'm sorry I did cuz I'm nervous it could affect my little bean. Sigh, nothing I can do now.

Thank you so much for the help ladies!  I paid for the upgrade to earlybird check-in (flying Southwest) to guarantee myself an aisle seat, and I will probably opt for the want or hand security check.  Luckily, my flight will be a tiny bit into my second trimester, so that seems like good timing, and the flight is only 2 hours each way.  I am already a nervous flyer, so I appreciate the advice and support!

I just camr home from a trip which included a 2.5 hour flight each way. When we were taking off and landing i felt more nauceous than usual (and of course with turbulence). I was close to the bathroom and brought crackers, water, ginger ale and aspirin.
I went through many body scanners and dectectors....at the airport and on the cruise. The TSA said they are 100% safe for pregnant women and will not harm or effect you or the baby.
Good luck.... i am not a flying fan either!

I flew at 14 weeks and 32 weeks with no issues. The only reason they tell you not to fly close to your due date is that they don't want to deliver any babies on board. Also, as you get further along, it's more about blood clots than anything and that's because of sitting so long (same risk for road trips as flights). You'll be fine!

I flew at 5 weeks and was fine, but actually passed up the dinner they served. The baby said no.... Ha ha... . Drinking water is important. I get so dehydrated on flights and that's a horrible feeling.

Small tip, they put puke bags in the compartment in front of you. And you can borrow from your neighbors if you fill up yours... I once used 3.
