Winter maternity clothes

I thought I'd make it through without needing to buy much but this winter is neverending in New England. So now I'm going out tomorrow for some sweaters that don't ride up my stomach.

But my real question is: where can one find long underwear for us preggos? My cuddl duds are reaching their limit and I still need to wear them under my real pants every day, it's so cold...

Re: Winter maternity clothes

  • I'm not sure where you can get long underwear, but on extra cold days I wear leggings under my maternity jeans - basically the same thing, right? I'm in Pittsburgh so it's not quite as bad here as where you live, but we've had our share of days with negative temperatures and leggings have worked for me. I got mine from Old Navy and Kohls - and they are maternity leggings thank God! Hope that helps!

  • What about larger/light elastic waist leggings? Outdoor stores may have them, but it's kind of getting close to the end of the season. City sports, maybe? If you don't plan to sweat in them, cotton spandex may be enough to keep your outer pants from touching your skin and keep you a bit warmer. You could probably use them on their own with dresses/long shirts later.
  • It's sometimes feels like -40 or -50C in Manitoba, CA. I'm not sure where to buy long underwear, but investing in a long warm coat would be my suggestion! That way you stay warm while you're outside but aren't bogged down with all the layers once you're indoors.

This winter I've worn lots of cotton leggings with oversized and comfy sweaters, and high boots.

Thanks all, I think maternity leggings are my next stop. I'd love to buy a new winter coat, but I refuse to spend a lot of money on a North Face or something. If it was an investment, sure, but I'm having trouble poneying up the dough for what is a single winter use! My normal jacket no longer zips over my belly so I got a cheap replacement from Marshalls and and am trying to layer instead. This effin' winter, man...
  • @hoonsonfirst I know the feeling it's never ending with more snow possible...ugh! I'm not sure you will find much in stores everything is switching over seasons. But as pp said I've been wearing leggings under my yoga pants at work
  • I'm a huge fan of cuddl duds. They're awful stretchy, could you buy a larger size and maybe wear them a bit lower? Totally depends on how your bump is riding, but if it's not too low it might work. Another idea, in NYC I bought a pair of fleece lined leggings once. Super warm under my scrub pants (which were pretty thin)
