I recently found out that I have gestational diabetes. I finally found out when my appointment will be and it will be Thursday, March 5th. This will be my first appointment. I asked her how many times I'd have to go in and she told me that I'd be going in weekly, but she wasn't the doctor, she was just the lady at the desk.
Can anyone tell me how often your appointments are to be seen by the diabetes clinic? Also, how long do your appointments last and what do they do at the appointments?
When I had GD, I had to go to a 'class' about GD, where I got a meal plan and lots of information about what to eat. Then I met with a nutritionist twice, 2 and 4 weeks after I started my diet, to discuss my numbers and any if any modifications were needed. I managed my GD easily with diet and exercise, so I my dr just checked my numbers after that.
First baby. ..I went to a class then went back a week later to check my diet and numbers (I had to write everything down.) Then no more appointments with diabetic appointments. second baby...one appointment with nurse for checking blood sugar; one with dietician. That was it. Other appointments were with MFM. They also checked my blood sugars.
