Going to Hawaii while 23 weeks pregnant

We are going to Maui, Hawaii in a little over a month and I will be 23 weeks pregnant by that time. We just reserved a luau and were thinking about snorkeling. Any suggestions on other activities we can do that would not be dangerous for a pregnant woman?

I love Maui. I am a beach bum though that enjoys to just got sit down at the beach and not have anything planned. I also like to go walk the shops, I believe it was there that there was a train tour through a sugar cane field.

  • Go up to the top of the volcano for sure (10,000 ft high and you can drive the entire thing but would still recommend the little walk to the summit), hit a few of the amazing beaches near Kihei or Lahaina, take a leisurely walk into one of the many waterfalls on the road to Hana, or a walk out to Jaws only if the surf is high and the surfers are out. There is also whale watching, a walk and dinner in Lahaina, Kihei, or Paia. There are lots of options no matter what side of the island you will be on. Maui is a perfect destination.
  • We went to Maui for our honeymoon! It was absolutely amazing. We did snorkeling, a luau (at the Hyatt on Kaanapali Beach). I heard the luau in Lahaina is much better. We went parasailing (not sure if that is something you would want to do when pregnant though. We drove to Haleakalā National Park. I wish we had done the road to Hana (heard amazing things about that). Shopping in Lahaina is great and so are the shops in Kapalua Bay. Super jealous!!! I hope you have an amazing time!!!
  • We also went to Maui for our honeymoon. The Old Lahaina luau was a great experience! I loved just laying on the beach and taking walks at night. We also did the road to Hana but I would probably do a smaller day trip on our own if I were pregnant. Enjoy!! I'm very jealous :)
  • I went to Tahiti 22 weeks pg with my 1st and was able to do pretty much everything except scuba dive. Have fun!
  • We were in Maui for a week right after we found out we were pregnant. Lahaina is absolutely beautiful! Check out the Maui Ocean Center, it's a lot of fun and really cool to see all the fish and ocean life. We also went kayaking and whale watching. The Road to Hana is beautiful with amazing views, but not a lot of places to stop and take a bathroom break, so plan ahead. I definitely suggest going to Cool Cat Cafe for dinner and a milkshake.
  • I can't remember the name of the snorkeling trip we went on, but it was so much fun. Road to Hana is cool (drive yourself instead of going on a tour bus), walk around lahaina, and couples massage on the beach!
  • Haleakala sunrise for sure. Super really morning but 100% worth it, amazing
  • I live in Hawaii and from first hand experience I'll tell you that most of the fruity drinks here can be made Virgin! So you can still get that tropical experience.. Also in Lahaina, there's a place called Hula grill. They have the BEST breakfast around.. I suggest getting a papaya to go with your meal... It's delicious!
  • I live on O'ahu, I suggest road to Hana! The top of Haleakala! (The volcanoe) ferry ride to lanai, over on lanai visit the four seasons manele bay! Lahaina is fun! Just beaching it will be great! Have fun!!!
  • Honeymooned there as well! LOVED the Hula Grill! LOL
  • I'm in Maui right now!! 16 weeks pregnant and loving the food and delicious fruity virgin drinks. Although I couldn't do some of the excursions my friends talked about like Whale Watching or the sunrise volcano bike ride, I think Hawaii is a great place to be for a pregnant gal! We are going on a helicopter tour to see the whole island... Expensive but it's one of the only adventures I could do and I'm saving so much money by not drinking I feel I've earned it!!
