Pelvic pain

hi! I am 31w5d pregnant and I am having the worst pain near my hip bone just above my pelvic bone. Feels like my ovary is about to explode. The pain lasts about 2-3 minutes . Has anyone else experienced this?? I called my insurance nurse line but not much help and I don't want to run to the ER over nothing.

Re: Pelvic pain

  • @emilygmueller2913‌ that is very common in pregnancy hun, not only is your uterus is growing, you have ligaments that are stretching and it'll keep stretching. The pain is because your ligaments don't wanna stretch as far as they can and your feeling them pull.. It'll keep happening till the end. I started using a hot rag or a corn pack and laid them on my pelvic bone and it seemed to help a lot.. I'd bring it to your doctor attention if you feel like you need too. But, that's what's causing your pain.

  • I also worked in an OB/GYN Office before I left for pregnancy reasons
  • Im having the same kind of pain. Im 33w and asked my doc the other day she said either round ligament pain or my pubic bone getting ready. I cant find anything to relieve this pain except for rest. Good luck to you!
  • Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate it!
  • My pelvic pain has been pretty bad too. Unfortunately it's your body's way of preparing for labor. I'll even hear by pubic bone pop from time to time! I take nightly baths to help relax and also my Dr. suggested a heating pad placed in my groin-between my pubic bone and upper thigh. It does help. Also as you get further along it may get better as your uterus will come out from your pelvic cavity and raise up a bit. If you have a soaking tub I've also found that sitting in the water and opening up my legs (letting my knees fall open) helps stretch the area and feels good.
  • Sounds like round ligament pain.  It's awful but completely normal! Feel better soon!
  • Sometimes I feel like i'm getting F&%$ed with a knife!
  • Our midwife just spoke to us about this at our last appointment. She said that our baby is head down already and each time you get up from sitting or laying down, baby's head is hitting your pelvic bone so it's essentially bone on bone. She said it was common to feel like your bruised in that area and that it would be sensitive until baby gets into the birth canal.
  • I feel that going to the ER would not be "over nothing" considering you have a child inside you. It never hurts to be sure, especially in this case.
