Weaning tips for 12 month old

Looking for some tips on weaning my 12, almost 13 month old. I just found on I am unexpectedly expecting baby #3! The goal was to try and make it to 18 months and then pray she self weaned, but now with a baby bean on board, I think I may want to get the ball rolling sooner. Any advise? She adores nursing so I am not looking forward to being the one to wean over her doing it herself.

Following. I'm trying to wean my 21-month old son as I'm expecting #2. He loves nursing and asks to "nah" several times a day.

I weaned my son at 19 months because we're expecting too!

It really only took him 3 days... I stressed over it so much and he transitioned so easily!

Our big problem was bedtime, middle of the night and nap time feeds. He was not a fan of cow's milk and was not interested in water at bedtime. (Although now a few months later he wants both at bedtime! Lol)

I laid next to him and told him bedtime stories. Goldilocks & the 3 bears, and little red riding hood. When he'd "ask" I gently told him that we have to save the milk for the new baby and that he's a big boy now and big boys drink from cups. I also got him a special pillow and would tell him to lay on his pillow and close his eyes.

It went way smoother than I thought. The first night was really the only time he was freaking out. After that he'd whimper for a minute but lay down and forget it.

We've had some nights since where he doesn't want to go to sleep but he doesn't ask to nurse.

Hope this helps you, or at least gives you some confidence!

The past 3 nights DH has put her to bed with cows milk and attended to her when she wakes offering cows milk (haven't deciding if that is a bad habit to form, but the only alternative is to CIO as she wants to feed). I will nurse her in the morning and maybe once in the evening. My poor supply :( I'm so sad for it to go completely.
