  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
    38 W, March 7th, Pumpkin

    2. Age at delivery?
    35

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
    Nope

    4. How are you feeling?
Not very different to last week: moody, energy swings, pelvic soreness.  I seem to have gained 3 pounds over the past week.  I'm glad, because my weight gain has been on the low end of the normal range.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Rant: I don't have a lot of edema going on, but my calves barely fit into my rain boots now, and my wedding band is starting to get uncomfortable :(

QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
"Don't diet too much" - whatever that means.  I don't restrict calories or eliminate any major food groups.
    "Don't exercise"
I also get the "Oh" + fake smile when people ask me how far along I am because my bump is on the small side.

@NeonNoon yikes, sorry to hear about your calves. I think I'm headed that way too - regular boots getting pretty tight.  Btw, I love your baby-gaga ticker!

    1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
28w. Size is equal to all of the space available between my left kidney, my liver and my bladder. I know because baby is able to punch all three simultaneously.

    2. Age at delivery?
    Advanced.

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
Nope. I would consider adopting a successful Japanese businessman, though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_adult_adoption

    4. How are you feeling?
    Fat and hungry.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Took the GD test yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if it came back positive as I have some of the classic symptoms, including hunger attacks and very frequent visits to the restroom.

I see my OB on Monday, and then meet with the midwifery team on Tuesday, at which point I'll have to choose whether or not to switch to the midwifery practice. Everyone who has gone to my hospital seems to rave about the midwives.

QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
"You're not fat, you're pregnant." I never know what that's supposed to mean. My best guess is "You look so fat that I can't avoid mentioning the word, but I suppose you have a decent excuse."

  • 1. How far along are you? What is your EDD? What size is baby?
I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow. Due date 4/5/15. I don't know what size fruit/veggie that is. Squash?

    2. Age at delivery?
    35
    3. Any other children or fur babies?
DS is 20 months, plus 2 labrador retrievers
    4. How are you feeling?
I threw up yesterday. I have all the normal 3rd trimester garbage - aches and pains, sleep problems, peeing all the time, heartburn, trouble breathing, etc. But there's nothing out of norm, except that my morning sickness never went away.
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Rave - my blood pressure is back to normal after some extended family issues were resolved. Rant - A 3rd trimester ultrasound to check growth and position showed an abnormal cyst in the baby's abdomen. There is a LONG list of possible causes. I have a repeat ultrasound with the doctor this upcoming week.
QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
I go crazy when people ask how I'm feeling. I know they're just trying to be polite and aren't really interested. Every time it happens, I have an internal debate about whether I will also be polite and say I feel great, or tell them how I really feel and make them sorry they asked. How do they think I feel? Any woman who has every been pregnant knows how the last few weeks feel.

  • @mattandlora Sorry to hear about the cyst. I hope you get some answers with the repeat ultrasound!

@supersarah77 Ha, I feel the same way about the sleep comments. "Your life will completely change" is right up there too.

Oh, I hear the "you're life will completely change" all the time, too.  Well, duh, of course it will.  I mean, we can't take the baby to happy hour, now, can we?

My 28 week appt is on Tuesday. Fx I pass my 1 hour glucose test in spite of a cold.

Rant - I hate rude people and their unsolicited judgmental comments. I've stopped being tolerant. Want to be rude to me??? Be prepared for what comes out of my mouth. Don't like what I say in response to your rudness? Suck it up cupcake.

Rave - love all the movement! Gives me reassurance that baby girl is doing ok.

23 weeks, grapefruit. Due June 18

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
2 kittehs - Samurai the Ewok Praetorian Guard and Silt the Big Man.

    4. How are you feeling?
For some reason today my arms have been mad itching and have broken out in hives. I took a benadryl, which succeeded in knocking me down for a nap, but I woke up to itching again. Feet and ankles swollen after a long shift last night. Tired.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
GD testing at next appointment (3/12)
Rant - I know we are supposed to drink a lot of water, and if I don't I end up not feeling that well, but i am seriously tired of water! I guess I just miss the days I could drink soda all day
Rave - I'm too tired. I can't think of one

What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
People keep asking me what I'm having. We're Team Green so when I tell them I don't know some people get really obnoxious about it. It used to amuse me but its wearing thin. Like its any business of yours - person I see every other week - to be bent out shape by my not knowing its a boy or girl?

@mellymar i can't believe you don't know the sex of your baby!! KIDDING. ;)  Probably the most surprising part of pregnancy is how much strangers have wanted to get involved in some way. Perhaps humans tend to view childbearing as some kind of joint species-preservation project and feel like they have something at stake?  A completely strange woman at my workplace (we had never spoken before) stopped me in the hallway to give me advice on nipple care.

Sorry to hear about your extreme itchiness. You may want to give your OB or midwife a quick call. There is a rare condition that does sometimes come up in pregnancy (1% or so) with itchiness as the main symptom.  Or it could be a new laundry detergent?
  • Yes, I have to work in a half hour and will be there pretty much all night, but I do plan to call tomorrow if I am itchy again (if for nothing else than the official OK to use a hydrocortisone cream or something). Which I probably will be as since I have nothing new in my house (detergent or other) I'm assuming its something new at work I'm reacting to. Bleh. I didn't know that about the itchiness being a symptom of something else, tho. Thanks for that ❤

    4. How are you feeling?
Not bad. Back and hip aches more frequent, and working out is getting harder. But still enjoying the 2nd tri. Also Getting nervous - this is going so fast!

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Glucose test in 3 weeks, ugh. But got to put it off until the very end of week 28 :)
Rant is that I can no longer log into TB on my work desktop. Am pretty busy right now, so I shouldn't be on it anyway. But mobile bumping replies are kind of a pain.

    2. Age at delivery?
    38

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
1 adorable dog and 2 old skinny kitties

    4. How are you feeling?
Did I mention I was tired? Really? Because I'm pretty much useless... I know I'm supposed to be moving around to get exercise, but I'm just so BIG and tired. I had my OB appt Friday and Dr (not my normal one) asked me if I wanted my cervix checked, ummm... I guess so right? NO, wrong answer... it was so high and not ready to be messed with, I was in pain and bleeding for 2 days and of course, do they mention this is normal? NO!! Still having similar symptoms to last week, lightheadedness, weak in shower, fast heart beat, SOB - guess he hasn't dropped yet. But if I can just sit, I feel pretty good.

    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Rant: where is this burst of energy you're supposed to get for nesting? I would like to clean up the house some and I can barely make it down the stairs to make myself a sandwich!

QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
Hmm.. I'm not sure anything specific other than freaking me out more than I am already, like "OMG that's so soon!!" Like I don't know that... I'm trying to remain calm over here... and I guess my friends/family that want to fill me in on the details I don't want to know about (yet).

    22 weeks
    2. Age at delivery?
    42
    3. Any other children or fur babies?
    7 other children ages 16 to 1 1/2 , animals too
    4. How are you feeling?
Fine.  I am dealing with not sleeping well.  I need a bed.  I may start sleeping in a recliner to see if that helps.  My hips just kill me and my back hurts each morning.
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Rant: Sick of cold weather.  Not just cold...really super and dangerous cold.  I feel trapped in my house.  I have morning sickness again almost every morning.  Its not the all day horrid nausea I get at the beginning of pregnancy.  Its just in the first couple hours after I wake up.  But I have thrown up a couple times in the past couple weeks.  ick. I have been trying to eat crazy super healthy...honestly its starting to annoy me!  Eating steamed spinach or kale every morning with breakfast has gotten irritating.  The rest of my family will be stuffing doughnuts into their faces and I am fixing myself some plain greek yogurt with frozen wild blueberries and chia seeds on it.  I have not eaten ice cream in months and months...or other sweets either.

Rave: I have done a lot and accomplished a lot around my house.  I bought bunk beds for two bedrooms and rearranged the rooms and gave them a good cleaning and organizing.  I had a couple children that needed bigger sizes brought out of storage which requires a lot of laundry getting done and packing of old stuff and rearranging closets and dressers.  I have started laundring baby things which is the earliest I have ever done this in any pregnancy.  I also am rearranging my room because i think i will put the changing table in there this time.  With that I have been going through a lot of stuff in my closets and drawers etc and tossing things and reorganizing things etc.

QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?  There is a non stop barrage of things like "do you know what causes this" etc and also the "are you always pregnant" from people I see infrequently that swear I am pregnant every time they see me.  Last Friday I went out to the mall with a few of my children because I really needed to get away from the house for a while.  This winter has been brutal...anyways...I was asked by 3 different people something similar to "you must be due any day now"...well ummmm NO....I am really only 1/2 way there.  22 weeks and I always go over by a considerable amount of time...so 1/2 to go.  Of course with that is the insistance that I am either having twins OR they have my due date wrong.  Well I think I would know if i was pregnant for like 20 weeks more than I actually was...and I am pretty sure any doctor worth crap would be able to tell that when they looked at an ultrasound at least!!

    3. Any other children or fur babies?
    No
    4. How are you feeling?
I thought I was feeling better however I am still suffering from fatigue, naseau, depression and moodiness.  :(  So hoping that this passes and I get some relief in the second trimester.
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?
Today I learned that my First Trimester Screening indicates a possibility of down syndrome (1 in 14).  It was very upsetting.  Though I was going to have additional genetic screening due to my age, now it is absolutely essential.  Has anyone experienced this?  What tests did you proceed with?  I hope to get an appointment this week.
QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?
We haven't yet announced the pregnancy as we wanted to get passed the first trimester and screening.
  • Hope you get some good news with the next round of testing @LIMomToBe.  I opted to do NIPT without the screening.  It is not a diagnostic test, but is extremely low risk requiring a blood draw from you with results in a couple of weeks.  You may be offered amniocentesis or CVS instead.  They are riskier but a better option in some circumstances.

Any word on the additional testing @mattandlora?
  • Thank you so much @NeonNoon!  I have an appointment first thing tomorrow morning.  I was already going to do the MaterniT21 due to my age so I will start there and keep you posted.  :)

    4. How are you feeling?  I'm feeling okay - the usual aches and pains I guess
    5. Upcoming appointments or milestones? Rants or raves?  A/S is next Tuesday.  I can't wait!
QOTW: What's one thing that people say to you while you're pregnant that drives you nuts?  I think its mostly the comments like "you better rest up now because you won't get any sleep after the baby comes" and "your life is going to change completely."  I am not a 21 year old mom to be, I understand what I am getting myself into.

2 yr old DD.  6 yr old DS. 10 yr old black lab. :)

I'm feeling ok- pregnancy related ok. I've been sick with this stupid head cold for almost 3 weeks. The coughing is driving me nuts. Wen to my PCP yesterday and she gave me antibiotics.  Not sleeping at all because my little man has double ear infections.. severe infections. Took him to the pediatrician yesterday. So we're both on meds. Poor guy was up crying a lot during the weekend so he slept with us most of the time. If I could stop peeing my pants from coughing so hard.. that would be fantastic. :)

My next appt. is tomorrow.. just regular OB appointment and injection.

I've actually had a lot of negativity which is bothering me. People find out it's your third and they're like OH.. why did you do that? or wow.. or oh my gosh that's a lot of kids. Ok it's three but it's not like I'm ready to be a Duggar. I'm 37 years old. I've been married for almost 10 years. We have a house. Nice cars. Jobs. We're great parents. It's not like I'm ready to be on 16 and pregnant. lol

  • a lot of times those elevated risks for downs come back high simply because they use this "formula" to figure it and with AMA it automatically kicks your score into a high risk range.  As simple as that.  Get that extra testing done, though.  It will really help put your mind at ease and let you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy without so much worry
