3D ultrasounds vs. Actual Photos

edited February 2015 in March 2015 Moms
Hey mamas (: I was wondering how many of you have 3D ultrasounds of your little ones and how likely they are to look the same once they're born.
Anyone have before and after pictures??
I can't attach any pics of my little sweetpea (the app won't let me) , she's due in 4 weeks exactly, March 25

Re: 3D ultrasounds vs. Actual Photos

  • I had 3d ultrasoundst through out my whole 2nd pregnancy..and she came out looking exactly like some of the pictures...actually freaked me out...lol

  • Had one with my son first pregnancy and I'd say certain features resembled his 3D ultrasound but he didn't look exactly like it. I had one with this baby at 32 weeks and all I can say is she has similar features of my fiancé
  • My nephews nose was smashed up and looked very large in comparison to what his handsome face looks like in person haha. So I think it really could go either way.
  • I think it depends on their position, how cooperative they are, and also things like umbilical cords and other items that may distort the pic and look like part of their face or mouth. The techs told me that in order to get the picture to kind of clear up a bit, things get kind of distorted. I have had 3D U/S every week this pregnancy since 14 wks and every 2 wks during my 3rd pregnancy. My son's pics always came out kind of distorted and, like erwallace089 mentioned, his nose and face were kind of smooshed most of my 3rd tri. This time around, I have been getting better, clearer pics, so it will be interesting to see how much she ends up looking like all these pictures I have of her.
  • My sister in law had an ultrasound of my niece later in pregnancy (I think 36 weeks) and it was pretty surprising how accurate it was. I doubt that it is the same for everyone, though, depending on positioning or quality of the ultrasound.

I had one at 28 weeks with this pregnancy & while we don't have him here to compare yet, he looks exactly like his brother's newborn photo!
  • Had one at 29 weeks and although he is not here to compare to yet the experience melted my heart as a first time mom and helped to put some of my fears at ease

I agree. I do see a lot of each of her siblings in all my LO's u/s pics.
  • The top left corner is my baby picture, the bottom right is DFs.
The other two are of my baby girl, due in 3 weeks exactly, but hoping she comes sooner.
