2nd Trimester

I'm on a boat! Dizzying vertigo...

The past two weeks (starting at week 12) I've had severe boat-like vertigo. Not spinning, but feeling like I'm bobbing up and down. Unfortunately this isn't a new thing for me - I had a bout of labyrinthitis that transformed into mal de debarquement syndrome (literally feeling seasick) two years ago. It feels just like that again (and certainly isn't helping with morning sickness, which is still hanging around).  OB says it's probably due to all the things swelling up all over, but boy, this is not something I counted on.

Anyone else suffering vestibular problems?

  • I'd been advised to get SeaBands when I was first having trouble with vertigo, but at that point nausea was never a problem (lol, though now the vertigo is certainly aggravating my morning sickness). Do you find it actually relieves the bobbing/spinning motion?

I had this problem early on in my pregnancy. Im sorry your going through this as it is horrible. Go see a highly recomended chiropractor, this helped me out a lot. I also wore the sea bands which helped a little bit. There is a safe anti nausea pill for pregnant women that can help too.(I don't remember the name-sorry)  Drink a lot of water as well.  I know what your going through and just hang in there. Take one day at a time. Feel better!

  • Fortunately this cleared up about the same time as the rest of the first-trimester stuff, I'm happy to say! Been good it wasn't a major relapse of the MdDs, whew! Hope you're all feeling well!

  • I also advise getting SeaBands. They are very helpful. I think you can get them at most pharmacies. Best of luck!
