bleeding 25 weeks

So today I went to the bathroom and saw blood on my underwear. I called Dr and was sent for a sonogram. Everything looked great from sonogram. Dr wants to me be on rest for the remaining of the week and to call if things get worse. I'm still bleeding which he said can continue but bc my sono looked fine he wasn't alarmed. Has anyone had a situation like this?

Re: bleeding 25 weeks

  • I had bleeding at 13 weeks. I know not around the same time as you. My doc sent me to ER. They did an ultrasound and pelvic to try and find where the bleeding was coming from. Which made it bleed more, of course. They put me on bed rest for a week. The bleeding changed to brown spotting during that week. The nurse at my doc office said that it was coming to an end. I haven't have any troubles since. 22 weeks now.

  • Thoughts and prayers! I'm glad to hear the OB is optimistic but cautious. Sounds like you're in good hands!

  • On and off since 12 weeks... ..
  • Did they said what's causing your bleeding? @taboullio84 ?
  • I had what I would call spotting at 25 weeks (I'm 28 weeks now). It wasn't a lot but I saw it in the toilet, on toilet paper when I wiped, and a little on my underwear. This happened to me 3 times over 4 days. I hadn't had sex or a pelvic exam or anything to cause it so needless to say I was a little freaked.

I went in to see my Dr and he checked me... Told me that there is a lot of extra blood flow during pregnancy and my cervix has basically what is akin to a nosebleed... Basically no big deal. He told me to take it easy for a couple of days and the bleeding would stop. Not to worry. He was right... The bleeding did stop and I haven't had any since. I can feel my little guy moving all around too so no longer worried.

Hopefully it's nothing for you to worry about either but it never hurts to get checked out. Call your Dr if it doesn't subside!!
  • I had spotting/light bleeding at 7, 9, 11, 20, 22, and 25 weeks (26 weeks now). I had a full work up multiple times, and my doctor found that my cervix is positioned at a slightly different angle than most. This causes the more sensitive part of the cervix (known as the transition zone) to be up against the vaginal wall. This with increased blood flow of pregnancy led to the bleeding.

I was told as long as I am not filling a pad an hour or having any cramping, not to worry. Feeling baby kick and move around had decreased my stress level when it happens. Thoughts and prayers coming your way!

They did an U/S and said they " think " the placenta pulled off on the end a tiny bit. BC of the placement of the blood. Then later on said it was my cervix BC of intercourse. Oddly enough they couldn't see where the placenta was pulling off and it hasn't had bleeding in that are again. ( that would have been a big deal if it kept pulling off) I do notice bleeding now after sex or a few days later. But honestly... I think they are not 100% sure they just tell me pelvic rest till bleeding goes away; no matter what it is.
  • Thanks for all the feed back. I'm still bleeding but it does look lighter then yesterday. I'm hoping it stops soon.
  • I have bleeding off and on pretty often. Mine is coming from my urethra. I pass clots and bleed into my panties. It scared my ER nurse so bad she personally came back to tell me my baby was fine and that it was just urinary bleeding. Bless her heart she was as scared as I was. Anyway I was told most pregnant woman have bleeding caused by urinary tract infections and don't know it. it may not be the cause of yours but it's a thought. With the amount of blood I've experienced I try to tell everyone I can about it.
  • That's interesting. I actually have had 2 uti infections already but I just finished antibiotics for strep b they found in my urine so I wouldn't get another uti. I did give them a urine sample yesterday so will see if I do have an infection.

  • Sorry my apologies
  • I have a low laying placenta and they said no sex or it could cause bleeding even walking depending how low
  • I wish they were able to tell me why I was bleeding but nothing showed in the sonogram. He said my cervix and placenta looked fine.
  • So sorry you have to go through this. May god bless you and you precious baby.
  • I bled at 24 weeks and while in the ER, was told I have placenta previa. Luckily, no bleeding since then. I hear bleeding during pregnancy isn't as uncommon as you would think even without any complications. Just keep your OB in the know, especially if it happens again.
  • I had bleeding on my 21st weeks. No cramps or any other sypmtoms. Scan results are all okay. Baby was fine. Placenta not low. Cervix not open. I had my urine sample sent to the lab. Results show that there's a bacteria in my urine. I had an infection. Had to take antibiotics for a week. bleeding was totally gone after 2 days of taking antibiotics.
