Can pets detect pregnancy?..

Sooo i dont want to sound too bizarre...but my 1 year old kitten, Kovu, has always followed my every movement..i literally trip over him on a daily basis..we cuddle every night as well...the past few days he has become even more obsessed with me than normal...and much more talkative. So i started googling and am extremly interested in your ladies opinions/expierences

One of my cats is super attached to me all the sudden and the other one wants nothing to do with me. Kind of funny. Unless Daddy (DH) is home the friendly one is all over me purring like mad. I imagine they might be able to smell the hormonal changes in your system.

My pups seem even more obsessed with me as well! Boy dog keeps burrowing his big head into my belly and staying there for awhile. Its pretty cute actually. Girl dog seems to have much worse separation anxiety and always feels the need to be laying on top of me. They are both big dogs so i dont have much personal space these days!

Haha, I was wondering if this were a real thing too. My dog (Welsh Springer Spaniel) has always been really attached to me, but the last few weeks it's gotten extreme. He is constantly running up to me and nuzzling my belly, or curling up in my lap. Which is tricky, because he's not petite :o3

One of my dogs have started sleeping very close to me....In the past few days he has been using my tummy as a pillow! I've heard a lot of women say their pets act different when they get pregnant.

My little Pomeranian pup has always been a little sweetheart with me but I've noticed lately that she likes having my attention and snuggles by my feet if it's not right next to me and puts her little head on my lap facing my belly..the thought of maybe her knowing I'm pregnant and becoming all of a sudden attached to me has passed my mind but I didn't wanna sound crazy and speak of it until now..guess pets know after all

I was wondering the same thing!

We have a chocolate lab and lately I been noticing how attached he has been to me. Usually he sleeps in his bed on the floor but now he has been moving his bed to my side and sleeping right beside the bed on the floor. And every movement he watches me or follows me. Especially when I go use the restroom he has to follow me in there too! Lol

Pets know for sure...before I found out I was pregnant, I noticed my black lab started to be clingy..she would even sit and wait outside the toilet. It was only when I remembered what she was like during my first pregnancy that made me do a test.

My little 5 pound dog has always been super attached to my husband, but before I even tested positive she hasn't left my side for long. I am definitely convinced that pets can tell your pregnant.

My cat does because he was the first to know I was pregnant!! Now if I can just get him to stop running across my stomach at night when I lay in bed or walk/make biscuits on my boobs!

If I had been thinking clearly, my dogs and cat were super cuddly right before I found out I was pregnant. My grandfather had died a couple of days before and I thought it was their way of comforting me. They wouldn't leave my side and all three slept with me; even my cat who usually keeps to herself. Now, my dogs lay their head on my belly and if I am sitting down they are on my lap .

I have been involved with the dog fancy for a long time and I know they can sense things we cannot. Their sense of smell is so keen, I'm sure they can smell hormonal changes and perhaps even the growing baby (I'm thinking if they can smell a few cancer cells in the human body, they would be able to detect a baby). Their hearing is also much better than ours and at some point can certainly detect noises and movements we can only feel. Their whiskers are very sensitive too (especially in cats), and should be able to sense movement within us as pregnancy progresses. Whether they know what the changes mean, I am not sure. My dog and I are both pregnant (about the same weeks along too) with our first babies. She, of course, is absorbed with her own body and here and there sniffs her belly, gives it a lick, and now and then pauses as if she's listening to something. Does she understand that there are puppies inside her? She certainly knows what a dog smells like, so when she sniffs her belly, she should know that there's a new doggy scent inside. Likewise, she knows human scent and should be able to tell there is an additional human smell within me. So, I am certain they know something interesting is going on, but I don't know if they make the connection between the smell and the eventual outcome (does she know there are puppies and a baby in the future?).

I was just looking up this information! I have 3 dogs and they usually sleep with hubby during the day while I'm awake but lately all three of them are with me constantly. My only explanation is that they know and they're being protective (:

My little dog seems to know. If I lay flat she is on my belly. If I am sitting up she is either across my lap or head on my leg. She is a 7 lb chiweenie so it doesn't bother me. She is very clingy also.

i believe it. both of my cats became obsessed with me before i tested both times. one of them tries to lay on my tummy every time i sit down. it's cute.
