Should I find a new dr.. Is it too late?

I'm 20 weeks pregnant tomorrow and have had nothing but issues with my dr. The first visit we waited about an hour and a half because my dr didn't have a nurse so she was unaware we were even waiting.. Second visit was a nurse visit because my dr didn't show up for work.. I wasn't rescheduled or told when to come back so I spent DAYS calling trying to find out and the phone just rang and rang and was never answered or sent to voicemail. I finally got through after four days and made another appointment at which I didn't see my doctor AGAIN I just saw her resident. I had bloodwork done to test for chromosomal abnormalities and received a frantic voicemail from the lab asking them to call ASAP. When I did they told me they'd been trying to call my doctor for four days but hadn't received any response to their voicemails and just needed to know when my bloodwork was drawn (thank goodness it was nothing serious). Anyway, I went in for visit four today- waited an hour and the dr was in my room less than two minutes. I found a list of doctors I'm willing to switch to, but is 20 weeks too late??
Sorry for the long winded post but this is my first baby and it's been such a headache!

Re: Should I find a new dr.. Is it too late?

  • Its never too late until baby is born. My sil changed drs like socks when she was pregnant. I believe her last change was at 36 weeks.
You are paying the Dr. If you don't like her why pay her? Find a new one, one you feel you can depend on.

  • I would swtich.....I don't know when is too late. But the sooner the better. That is just an unprofessional practice it seems. Also, can you imagine when you go into labor? You don't want your doctor late when you need to deliver.
  • Like pp said, it's never too late until baby is born! Why spend money (no matter if it's yours or your insurance or both) on a doctor you don't like?
  • Switch! I don't think it's too late at all! Hopefully the docs office can get it together enough to transfer your records.
  • Not at all, I've heard of women switching at 38 weeks, it's never too late.
  • I changed mine at 17 weeks for pretty much the same thing. I would switch.
  • Switch, switch, switch! It's not too late at all. You really need someone who can be professional and prompt once you go into labor...I would find a new doctor while there's still time! You and your LO deserve the best. :)

Switch. It is never too late and most if not all of Your medical records (information/testing etc) will transfer over. Definitely worth the change. A lot of people change even further along than you.
  • Make the switch! It's not to late at all!! Your doctor sounds very unreliable, which is scary business.
  • Not too late, i just changed doctors last week without a problem (due to insurance changs). The only thing i had to do with the new doctor was bring my old records and they picked up right where i was left off.

  • I switched mine two weeks ago and I could not be happier!!! So glad I changed. If your not happy you owe it to yourself and your baby to find a dr you are happy with.
  • Never too late. If I were you, I'd switch! Goodluck :)
  • I would switch! I also changed doctors and love my current choice! I went with the top-rated doctor in my area.
  • Switch! What happens when you go into labor and no one answers??!!
  • Not too late, I'd definitely switch.

  • I just switched doctors myself I am 21 weeks. If something feels not right about your doctor dont hesitate. You pay to see them so make sure its someone you trust and know you and baby will be safe. Good luck
  • I had the same issue!!! I feel like the baby is what is more important and if I'm stressed then the baby is too so I switched my clinic
