*IMPORTANT FYI* - Public Baby Registry via The Bump

I am extremely angry with The Bump right now because apparently if you google mine or my DH name, The Bump has already set up a page for our "baby registry" and it has our due date AND CITY listed. Somehow my brother-in-law saw the page and is now aware that we are expecting about 1-2 weeks before we had planned to tell the rest of the family. This might be fine for some of you, but my DH's family is a little different and requires a certain approach to things. Please be aware that your private news to share with friends and family is out in the open for anyone to see without any setting to change it to private. I'll be writing The Bump an e-mail today to let them know how frustrated I am with their website. Unfortunately, I do appreciate the knowledge and camaraderie from being here so I will not be leaving their page.

    Oh no! I understand your frustration with The Bump for making that info public but I'd also be curious as to why your BIL was googling your names?! Either way, I hope you get the answers you're looking for from The Bump and hopefully things will go smoothly with announcing to your in-laws.     Trust me, I'm just as curious. I don't know if he was specifically looking up our names or what. Maybe his wife is pregnant too. I don't know. Either way, if anyone were to look you up for whatever reason, to find you linked in page, etc. they'd see your blank baby registry in the bump.

    I've searched for my name and my husband's on google and nothing comes up, I wonder why? Sorry that happened to you, and I hope they sort it out for you

    Just changed my real name to something fake but it still comes up on google. The reason why all my info is in the settings was from theknot when we had our wedding website setup.

    Oh I gotcha, yes our wedding file is also on the Knot and can be found on Google, but nothing baby related and nothing from the Bump.

    I googled mine and found mine. Personally I don't care but I do agree that's messed up. There should be an option to not share.

    Have you registered at babies r us ?? I have already started my registry and the bump is one of their sponsors which makes it look like your information was taken from this forum . However , your the one who gave the registry all your info . Not the bump

    You mean people are already registering even though we are still in first trimester? I supposed theres, nothing wrong with that but it just feels a bit sacrilegious to me...i can't bring myself to register until at least june...

    I was put on bedrest for a week early on because of a bleed . They days become very long and lonely so creating a registry was a nice way to keep my mind of what was going on

    I thought you just register the birth so the government know how many new births there are in the country?

    They're talking about a baby registry thru a store- in this case babies r us. So you go to the store, scan items you want/need for your baby, so that way when people want to buy you gifts they just look at your registry and it'll all be there for them :)

    I get it...i need a bump and not a blump before I can register... I imagine the sales rep would give me the side eye because I'm in first trimester even though I look 6 months...lol

    You must have started a registry somewhere that linked it to the bump or filled something out when you were registering bc nothing baby wise comes up for me when i Google myself. But either way sorry that happend!

    The only way I can find my name linked with the bump is when I type my name and the bump together. Whenever I do that, baby registries and profiles come up but thankfully I have a common last name so there are several.
