Ah! I was just thinking about a 'this may be a stupid question but I have no idea cause I'm a FTM' thread. Well done.
Mine is - I know babies frequently wake you for a change, feeding, to be held, whatev. When have the established moms noticed their kids got around to say, 4-6 hours between interventions? Basically - when will I have the chance for an actual couple of hours straight sleep?
ETA - PS. Please don't say its not possible, ever. That will break my heart and spirit into a million tiny pieces :-<

I think it depends on the individual child. Some are sleeping through the night at 8 weeks and some take 8 months to a year. I hated reading when kids were sleeping through the night! Talk about jealousy but I think it was around 4 months when my boys would stretch to 5 to 6 hours!
As previously said, every child is different. My daughter started doing 7 hour stretches at about 10 weeks. Now she is 16 months old and is waking at least once a night. You will get your kid on a nice schedule and then he will start teething... Or get sick... Or decide he likes to party at 2am.
I think the only thing you can rely on is that sleep is not a guarantee. When your kid goes down for the night, sprint Into bed!

YES!!!! I was up with one of my 4 year olds last night. We are having to deal with them crawling in our bed. Wouldn't be such a big deal but he likes to sleep ON me and he was snoring.
Anyone getting short on breathe? I can't when I started to feel this way with my twins. Last night, I had to sleep with two pillows so it could take pressure off my diaphragm.

I'm a FTM, but I definitely am! I notice it the most when I'm getting ready in the mornings. I think because I'm rushing and stressed about being late. I keep forgetting to mention it to my doctor. Glad I'm not alone!
I remember it so well with my first pregnancy...just not when it started. As soon as they delivered Baby A I could feel the immediate relief of pressure and I could breathe!

DD1 was sleeping completely through the nite at 7 weeks. It was awesome. DD2 came along and is 4 now and still doesn't sleep through the night most nights. Although at this point, she just walks to our room and climbs in our bed so there is minimal disturbance. I'm praying DS is at least somewhere in between. We did just purchase a bigger bed, just in case.
@laurendutch I've had a few out of breath moments! I think right now (for me) it depends on how my baby is positioned or if she's kicking in the direction of my lungs. The feeling typically doesn't last very long. A few weeks ago I was feeling out of breath and very lightheaded all the time... I even started to black out at one point. I thought it might be an iron deficiency so I started taking a different prenatal vitamin and it has helped with that particular situation. Anyway, I hope you find some relief soon!

I've had breathing problems from fairly early on. I really noticed that stairs became public enemy number one back in first tri. I am also asthmatic, so that's probably a contributing factor. But yeah, it's embarrassing if I take the stairs up to my desk because it's only one floor and I pant like I just went up to the fifth or something! So I've been kind of punking out and riding the elevator up in the mornings!
I also have a lot of congestion, and I know that's effecting my breathing, as well.
Thanks all for the info to my question! It's about what I though y'all would say, but its nice to have some confirmation. ❤
@laurendutch I get episodes where I get short of breath. I noticed it especially at this past Fridays bowling league. I'd get up and throw and either celebrate a little (not usually) or make angry, frustrated gestures (much more typical, I suck. Lol) and chat a bit and go back up some steps and sit down and realize I'm kinda winded, here! I did smoke before I found out I was pregnant and thought that plus my tiredness was it. Glad to know its not just me. Will mention to my Dr at next visit, just in case, but thanks for asking so I could see the replies!
Thinking about changing my username on here for privacy reasons (same as my other social media accounts and I'm thinking I should probably change that haha). But when I went to "my account," I couldn't find where to do that... I'm guessing the bump is being the bump and is hiding it? Has anyone recently changed their username and know how to do it?
If you started your account at TheKnot then you can sign in there and change your username. You can't do it from The Bump
Not sure why they dont have the option.
i totally appreciate this tip! I have been trying to figure out forever how to change my usename for the same reason (i used my username too many places. i wanted something a little more ambiguous). Thanks for sharing this tip!

It tends to have more to do with the weight of the baby than the age. I don't recall exactly, but I want to say that most babies just can't sleep through the night before they are 12 lbs. They must wake up to eat. Not to say that they all sleep through the night at that point, but don't count on it before then. DS is 15 months and he nursed at night until he was 7 or 8 months. Co-sleeping and dream feeding are lifesavers! He is in his own room in a crib now but only sleeps through the night sometimes. On some nights we just have to give him back his paci and pat him on the back and he is out, some nights we just bring him to bed because it is easier than listening to him scream and we are tired!

So I'm high jacking this to ask a question to @laurendutch . You have Eosiniphilic esophagitis and so does my husband..... Do you know how this could effect the baby or anything further about passing it on ? Thanks.
Here's my question. What do babies sleep in? I know you're not supposed to have any sheets or blankets in the crib. So do they just lay there? And since it's summer, do you plan on using a wearable blanket or would that be too warm?

I will probably just have ours in a onesie and just be aware of the temperature. If it gets colder, I will just change her into full pjs. Definitely too warm for a wearable blanket unless your ac is high.

Both of my sons have EOE. It was actually my son who was first diagnosed when he was 2. At one, he was vomiting a ton but it was very sporadic (like not every time he eats a certain food). It was at 2, when we switched allergists and the Dr mentioned the possibility of EoE. At around the same time, I decided to get allergy tested. My back flared up with everything. My bloodwork also came back positive for Celiac. Since, I was getting an endoscopy I had them test my throat. It came back positive. Bc of the strong link of genetics, we had my other twin son allergy tested. His allergens are just environmental but we still had him get an endoscopy. He is positive as well. All of us are very mild cases. My allergist is aware of my pregnancy. I will probably get my daughter allergy tested before we start solids. I plan on breastfeeding and eliminating wheat/gluten (already out of my diet) and dairy. Both of those allergens are the top contributors to EoE. I hope this answers your questions..please feel free to ask more. As you are aware there is much unknowns with this disease...but as long as you are aware than that's a head start! Also, none of my boys are tube fed but my one son is on elemental formula bc he is low weight and the only milk he can drink is rice...which is really low fat.

The tiny ones often sleep in a swaddler. They make thinner ones for summer. If baby is swaddled and it is warm out, just wrap them up in a onesie or shirt and diaper.

I only had 1 ultrasounds at 20 weeks and my Dr said that it will be my only ultrasound unless there is a reason to have another one! Just curious if anyone else is only have one ultrasound for their whole pregnancy?
@josiegirl12 - I only had a quick one to establish a heartbeat and that the egg was implanted in the uterus as opposed to the fallopian tube, at the very beginning, and the mid term one (anatomy scan). I also won't get another unless there are problems.
Alright I've got one. Anyone know how soon after giving birth you can take a shower? I am a personal hygiene freak and I am a major planner. Not having any idea about this is driving me insane!!

I think I took one a day or two after..but I had a csection with a spinal. I wasn't walking until the next day.

I've heard ladies on here say they've taken one right away. I guess it depends on what kind of birth you have and how medicated you are.
I'm 41 (will be 42 in April) and after the 20 wk A/S, I'm getting A/S scans every month! Good and bad... Love the opportunity to check in on the little guy, but 20% of each invoice is my responsibility, so it's easily an extra car payment each month, if not more. That's like a crib per month. Ugh.

Our daughter slept in lightweight zip up Jammies all summer.

My c-section was at 2pm Thursday. I was in the shower at 6am Friday. The second my catheter was out, I got clean!
@iheartpancake I had an epi free birth and was able to take a shower as soon as I got a room. I wanted to be cleaned up asap. I was able to shower before visitors came back and before DD was done with her bath and checkup.
Thanks for the responses! I feel a lot better about it now. I guess in my head I pictured a scenario where I'd be sort of forgotten once the baby is here and no one would tell me what to do lol. Ahh good ole irrational fears! And about a shower, no less

I took a shower maybe an hour after giving birth. I was at a birth center and had no medication, so there weren't any issues with me walking or standing. It may have been the best shower of my entire life.
