Baby Showers

Baby Shower Timing

My husband and I just recently found out we are pregnant and my husband asked me today when I thought we would have our shower(s). We will be moving out of state when I am about 27 weeks. I know that this is early for a shower; but do you think it would be be ok to ask the hostess(es) to plan the shower(s) when I am about 25/26 weeks so that we have time to pack all of the gifts and things before we move? Thank you for any advice in advance!

Re: Baby Shower Timing

  • Won't your hostesses know you are moving? It seems pretty likely that that will be when they will offer to host anyways, so I probably wouldn't worry about it.

  • Under the circumstances, 25/26 weeks is not too early to have a shower, especially if you are moving too far away to make the return trip in just a few weeks for a shower.

Example:  If you're moving from NYC to LA, you probably wouldn't be able to come within 3 to 4 weeks to attend your shower, and you would not be able to fly much later than that.  If you're moving from NYC to DC, then you can probably drive back to your hometown for a weekend for the shower.
