I am 12 weeks pregnant and wake up every 3 hours to urinate. I have noticed that my urine is extreamly cloudy and goes clearing up everytime I use that bathroom during the night. The last time I wake up to urinate my urine is slightly cloudy. During the day my urine is never cloudy. Anyone experience this? I have no pain or foul smelling urine. I do take my prenatal vitamins at bedtime. Im very concerned. Please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Urination-Cloudy

  • I read recently this could be a UTI which is very common during pregnancy. May be worth talking to your doctor just to be safe?

  • Mines cloudy sometimes too. I was just at the dr a couple days ago and gave a urine sample and dr wasnt worried at all and said it seemed fine but they would test it for infections. Haven't heard anything so im guessing no news is good news. I would just mention it next time you go in. . But if it's anything like mine ive gotten my blood and urine checked regularly so if any levels were off I'm sure they would have let me know.
  • Thanks. Yes, I notice it in the morning when I wake it's slightly cloudy most days. I always forget to tell the doctor because it resolves during the day. I have gotten my urine dipped every time I have gone to my doctor and it's normal. During the night I'm so sleepy that I don't turn on the light to look. Last night I looked and it was almost white. But now again in the morning it's clear. So strange.
  • The exact same thing happens to me too. My first mornings Urine is always cloudy and then the rest of the day it's fine. It's been like that for weeks. I asked my doctor and she said it could be dehydration. Makes sense because I'm not drinking anything during the night while I'm asleep. She wasn't concerned at all. She said anything wrong would come up in my urine test that I just had done along with my prenatal panel blood work.
  • I went to the my appt today and everything was negative. They were not worried either about the cloudy urine. It's just weird to me that I get up to urinate every two hours since I was 4 weeks. I'm now 12 baby is still not big enough to push on my bladder. I did read that your body is producing so much more blood that's why you urinate as much. Though, doctors don't tell you that. It's how amazing how much urine with absolutely no water at night time.

  • Cloudy can be a sign of blood in the urine meaning UTI.

Try to drink lots of water in your waking hours
  • A doctor told me all the vitamins we have to take when pregnant tend to make our urine very cloudy
  • Luckily, I usually don't have to get up during the night (yet!) but my first morning pee is cloudy and bright yellow. I take my prenatals before bed and this started happening when I switched to a different brand of prenatals. Must be the vitamins! I also did a U/A at my MD's office recently and everything was normal.
