Baby shower madness!

Tomorrow I'll be 37 weeks. Baby girl already weighs over 8 lbs! Today I had my baby shower and I was completely exhausted and in pain from walking around so much and entertaining guests. My doctor is supposed to be calling me soon to talk about delivery options and whether or not he wants to induce me. Personally I would rather wait until she decides to come on her own but by then she could very well be 10 lbs. I just feel like crap! My frame is small and she's just Sooo heavy. Even with one of those mommy helper things lol Idk what to call them. But anyway, do you guys know of any ways to cope with the discomfort? And Braxton Hicks?!

  • Man I was hoping this was going to be a post about a throw down at a baby shower. Aw well... Just because a doctor recommends induction, you still have patient rights. So if you want to wait, and you and the baby are safe, you don't have to follow everything your doctor says. That being said, if there is any indication that your baby is in distress... Please listen to your doctors advice.
There was almost a thrown down at my baby shower...

I guess (I didn't see because I was in the middle of opening presents) this girl (maybe 16?) on crutches tried to come in the restaurant through the tiny, narrow private room that I was having my shower in, but some of my guests told her that the front door was the next one over. It really was only 5 extra feet and in the grand scheme of things easier for her to get through instead of the small room we we're in. Anyways, her mom comes over (from the other side of the restaurant) and starts to yell at me! I had no idea what she was even talking about, which made her even more angry. She called us all rude and inconsiderate and yada yada. I mean really, lady - you should have helped your kid in the restaurant - thanks for making a scene at my shower. Jerk!

  • If you and baby are both healthy enough to wait, I would.
Unfortunately this is probably just the point where we all get uncomfortable. I'm six feet tall, my baby is average size, and even I feel stuffed at this point.
I sleep and sit on the couch with lots of pillows propping me up. That's my most comfortable position. When I feel really tired or achy, I take a nice warm shower and relax.
Be strong ! This is the long haul, and as hard as these days are we are gonna miss them !
    Good luck :)

Oh ya, and I use my foot spa. For some reason when my feet feel good, I feel better :)
