Skin Issues/Rashes due to hormones?

About 2 weeks ago, I started getting bumps on the backs of my hands. Within a week the bumps had reddened, become itchy and spread up my arms. This past week I have struggled with bumpy skin on my neck and ears, creeping into my face. My ears and hands are insanely itchy!

After calling my OB, she told me to see a dermatologist or my primary, as it was generally too early (14 weeks) to be pregnancy related.

Dermatologist diagnosed as acute dermatitis (eczema) possibly brought on by the increase in hormones. I was prescribed hydrocortisone, and was instructed to treat as dry skin and control the itch. I've never struggled with skin irritations in the past, so I'm finding all of this frustrating. Is anyone else struggling with a rash or skin issues for the first time after becoming pregnant?

  • I have had that in the past "pre-pregnancy" with the same diagnosis. Keep putting the cream on and try not to itch. It will go away. It's just no fun!

  • I've had my eczema flare up where my bra meets my skin. It's never been there before and it itches so bad!

  • I have eczema worse in the winter anyway. I have been using Palmer's cocoa butter. it helps and it smells great.

  • I've always had the smallest eczema patch on my leg and it never bothered me until I became pregnant... Now it covers half of my calf! I just keep it super moisturizer with coconut oil!
  • My legs itch like crazy!! I thought it was just weather related until I read this. It's so uncomfortable :(
  • All of my skin is completely dry....especially is my hands and back. I've never had dry skin like this until now. (I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first). At first I was nervous about being big in the summer (I live in the south where we can get some really hot weather). While I am still nervous of the heat, I'm actually looking forward to humidity this year in hopes my skin will be lesss itchy
  • I have extremely dry itchy skin since the pregnancy which I never had before.... I've gotten many random rashes and as of last week, developed a latex allergy out of no where!!! My Hands literally felt like they were on fire, were red, and cut open. I've never had problems with latex gloves before and used them at least 80xs a day each shift.... I'm still waiting on that pregnancy "glow".. all I have thus far is acne and dry patches. Pregnancy does some weird stuff to you....
  • Pregnancy induced eczema.... it's not fun.
  • I've also developed a rash on my hands. It's not itchy and it comes and goes. My skin has never been so dry!
  • I developed a rash also! It was on my breast and started to spread to my stomach,my arms, behind my thighs, on the sides of my legs and it didn't look pretty. I was embarrassed to show my Belly. But a friend of a friend recommended I use this brand of lotion called dermasil! She said she used the soap & lotion while she was pregnant and still does to this day! I started using it and my skin has gotten a lot better. I will be using that lotions for as long as I need it!
