  The depo shot (lasted 3 months?) then back to the nuvaring.

  None, b/c we can't get pregnant w/o IVF.

  Birth control pills and Nuvaring have 2 hormones in them. You can't breastfeed and take Estrogen.

  
  

  If you are breastfeeding, you need a progestin only option:

  Mirena IUD-good up to 5 years, usually inserted about 12 weeks + postpartum.

  Minipill-not very effective. Must take it every day at same time and if you stop nursing, switch to another form.

  Depo Provera shot every ~90 days. Need to take Calcium and Vit D to prevent bone loss while on it

  Nexplanon arm insert, 99.9% effective, lasts 3 years

Twin m/c @ 5.5 wks Dec/Jan 2011 IVF #2 Only 4 eggs retrieved-Ganirelix dose messed up BFFN Feb/March 2011 IVF #3 ER 3/9 9 eggs, 7 fertilized, ET 3/14, No frosties. BFN IVF #4 ER 8/22 9R,7F ET 8/25-3 embies, 1 frostie! Beta 9/2= 54, 9/6=274, 9/8=625, 9/12=2953, 9/16 greater than 10,000. B/G TWINS born April 2012 @ 36wks & 1 day!   ParaGard IUD is a non hormonal option that is very effective.

  Since the pregnancy itself was life-threatening for me (and because I knew I was never going to go through that again) I had my tubes tied. Had I not had the tubal, I likely would have gone the non-hormonal IUD route. 

  
  

  Years ago (easily 2002), I was on Depo and it contributed to my thyroid shutting down (yipes). Check with your OB and see what they rec. There aren't very many things that are considered safe to use if you're BFing, so keep that in mind.
