Flying after baby

obviosly I will ask my dr before making any decision but I wanted your opinion as well. Assuming mommy and baby are well and healthy how soon after giving birth would you fly?

Re: Flying after baby

  • I waited until my daughter had her 3 month shots and will do the same with this baby.

  • I had to fly home for a funeral 6 weeks after my daughter was born. My pediatrician said as long as I didn't have anyone touching her she would be fine. She was. Although I think they usually recommend after 3 months shots.
  • I flew with mine between 3 and 4 months and it was just fine.  She slept through the whole flight.  I definitely never would have attempted it before 6 weeks.

  • I flew with both my boys at 2 months, nothing long though, just a 45 min flight to see my parents, and they were totally fine. I got it ok'd with their pediatrician first and they slept the entire flight.
  • Have you tried googling it? With most air lines baby can be 2 weeks, but they prefer for them to be at least 3 months. Me and my baby will be flying/moving across the country when she's 3 months old.
  • I have no choice... Hubby and I work remote and are heading home to have the baby... We will have to return 3 weeks after the birth...
  • There was a thread on this very recently. I think it was called "summer vacation." You will find all the input you need there.
