First names that go with Sue

Hi all! I am new to this board and I just thought I'd get some opinions cause I am absolutely stuck on what to name our baby girl! The middle name will be Sue after my MIL. The names that I have found so far that I love to go with Sue are : Harper, Quinn, Nora, Ruby, Kinley and Ava. I am so stuck because I pretty much like them all equally so any opinions would be much appreciated! TIA!!

Re: First names that go with Sue

  • Personally I would choose the first name first and then just add it with the middle name you want. How many times do you go by your first and middle name?

  • I say no to Ruby Sue. (Name of character in movie Uncle Buck.) Nora is my pick.
  • There is also a Ruby Sue in the Chevy Chase National Lampoon movies. She's Cousin Eddie's daughter.

  • I think a 2 syllable first name sounds better with sue, so that would rule out Quinn. I love Nora!
  • Oh wait you had a list. Harper or Ruby
  • I actually thought Ruby Sue was adorable (and can grow into an adult name just fine. .) I don't know any of the references to the name above.... I think of Quinn as a boys name so I don't like that one. Ava would be my second choice.

Yes!!! That's right. ( just saw that movie 2 months ago...can I blame it in "baby brain? ;)
  • Please check the baby name board. The ladies over there will give you lots of advice.

Also, a poll would be an easy way to track the popular vote! Everyone loves a poll
  • Nora, Ruby, and Ava are good. The others are too masculine to me. Who first thought of putting a harsh name like "Harper" on a little girl? It's just odd. Quinn is definitely a boy's name to me, and Kinley . . . your daughter begs you from the future not to do that to her.

  • I know you have a few picked out already but I thought I'd give my two cents. I have a friend who's name is Amy and although her middle name isn't Sue that is what my mom has called her for years : Amy Sue.  I've always thought it flowed nicely  : )   Either way I hope you find a name you absolutely love, good luck!!
  • I like Ruby Sue... Or even Elen Sue :))

That was my first thought when I saw Sue...a boy named Sue

    Meow.
  • My lil girl is Ellie sue.. Actually Ellie Suzanne.. I just call her Ellie sue!
  • I like Ava Sue, but I may be biased as my daughters name is Ava :) I have a friend having a baby and her name will be Savannah Sue.
  • I like Harper and Ava! And how funny, I'm naming my baby girl Norah Quinn! So naturally I like those names too. Ruby is the only name I wouldn't choose because of the National Lampoon connection. Good luck!
  • I like the symmetry of Ava Sue. Nora is nice too. I also think Quinn sounds like a boys name. And just me personally, I think Harper is a thing, like a violinist. Ruby is my third choice. I've seen both those movies in the distant past but I didn't put Ruby Sue together with them at all. Happy naming!

  • Ava or Harper.
  • My cousin is celina sue and I think it goes together really well but you might spell it different (people struggle to say it right) sounds like Selena
  • Thank you all so much for your opinions! I think I have ruled out ruby and kinley, so that is progress. :)

  • My name is Casey Sue and I love it. Some of my friends just call me Sue. I've always wanted a Sue Ellen, double name. Good luck!
