Stuffing Flips?

Hi, I'm new to flips but have been using 4.0s for 6 months now.  Can anyone fill me in on some cheaper alternatives to the flip inserts or should I just suck it up and buy them?  I was thinking about Green Mountain prefolds instead. Thoughts or advice?

    Lots of people use prefolds to stuff pockets. Flats are good too. GMD is very well regarded.

    If you do a search you might be able to find some discussion about which prefolds fit better at which snap setting. But the search function here can be a bit temperamental. Or you could ask in the new place where everyone has gone. I stuff my pockets with flats, so I just fold them to fit the length of the pocket.  Let me know if you need help finding the place.

    Many of the boards are ghost towns.....it was a chain reaction....people left to keep up with banned friends which caused others to leave to keep up with thise friends.....others left in anger over what happened.....and still more left after other recent events here.
