#2......tmi

Oh my gosh. Ok....here we go. In the beginning (5 weeks) I had reg movements, every day. Now at 10 weeks I go about every 3 days. It's SO painful. I can't even. After. Throbbing pain. I'm terrified of hemroids....I feel like I'm on that path. Ahhhhhhhhhh what do I do!?!?!?!?

Re: #2......tmi

  • I had the same issue. It was horrible. I have found that taking Miralax helps. My neighbor is a nurse and suggested bending over and trying to touch my toes while on the toilet bc it will relieve pressure. That seems to help too. Drink more water also!

  • Oh man it's the worst right!? The more fiber and water the better. Flax seed always works for me. I add some ground flax to yogurt for a few days and that usually helps. You could add it to a smoothie as well. Quinoa also works for me. I notice if I eat it for a few days in a row I tend to be on the looser side. You could make a big batch and eat throughout the week? Unfortunately the hemorrhoids may be inevitable as the growing baby and uterus put pressure on the rectum but keeping things soft would certainly help I would think. Good luck!
  • Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!'
  • I'm pregnant with my sixth. Never had hemorrhoids. Constipation is normal so get lots of fiber and water. Coffee, tea, soda all take water from your body (contribute to dehydration). Lemon water helps prevent swelling and is great for you too.

  • I feel for you! I finally got back into a normal schedule, but before it was like passing a brick every four days. Crossing your legs helps in the process and being sure to clean/wash well after and out on some medical cream can lower risks of hemeroids.
  • WDDCH you're right they are not inevitable, probably should have said common in pregnancy. It's great you've never had them!
  • My midwife also recommended taking magnesium supplements to help with constipation if it got really bad.

I was in the same boat as you... except after 3 or 4 days everything kind of exploded (sorry... TMI). Things seem to be getting back to normal for me now though (knock on wood).
  • Metamucil and milk of magnesia were recommended by my OB. I am eating some prunes now that are working too well!
  • I second the Mirelax.

  • I just upped my fruit intake!' Kiwis and pears are a natural way to relieve constipation :)
  • Magnesium definitely helps. But be careful on overdosing!! I took the recommended amount and got signs of magnesium poisoning!! Your muscles go really weak and shaky, like you're about to pass out or get a serious flu. Your pee goes green and minerally smelling. And you get terrible tummy craps. This was before pregnancy tho, thank god for that!
  • I take a colace every day (not just as needed) and benefiber in cranberry juice every day I'm up to drinking it.
I use miralax if the usual doesn't get things moving.
  • Everything everyone else said but also exercise because it helps get thing moving too
  • Colace, watermelon and cantelope. That works wonders!

  • My doctor, just yesterday, gave me a prenatal vitamin with stool softener in it.....I am praying it works, because this sucks!

  • I was a regular coffee drinker and when I found out I was pregnant I quit drinking coffee and caffeine all together. I just recently started craving coffee again so I bought some decaf and it has definitely helped with going number 2. So if you like coffee give the decaf a try?
  • The only way I have been able to go is to use colase. I went 11 whole dang days with out going & I was miserable. I tried upping my fiber, water & Metamucil & it didn't help at all. I hope you find some relief !

  • So glad you posted this! I am having they same issue too and it is making me terribly bloated.
  • Oh yes every few days I go, and unfortunately when I was preg with my daughter (she's 5 now) I had the hemorrhoids, or I think it was. I would be so sore there for hours after and sometimes it would bleed bright red right after I went to the bathroom. This time it happened once.....so not hoping to have to deal with this for another 7 months.
  • Prunes are great. Week 10 was my worst but now I'm week 11 things seem to have shaken loose - so good!

Maybe try stool softener tablets? My insides were sooooo messed up with my first pregnancy that I ended up with INTERNAL hemeroids! Never knew there was such a thing! My doctor ended up giving my Metamucil, stool softeners and suppositories. Fun stuff! lol Not so bad this go round, but I hate that my normal bathroom routine is out of each. I've been awake since 5 this morning cuz my body decide THAT was when I needed to go and then I couldn't get back to sleep.
