Almost 4 y/o & 3 wk old newborn

so I came home from the hospital and within the week I was sick. I had a terrible cold which lasted atleast a week and a half and which I most likely got from my older daughter. My older daughter attends daycare/preschool 3 days a week and she tends to catch everything and bring it home. I very often get it from her. Luckily with my bad cold the baby did not get it but now my daughter seems to be coming down with another sickness....how do I protect the baby from getting it while still being able to cuddle and comfort my older daughter? Plus I'm afraid I will be sick again as well. I am breastfeeding which I know should help protect the baby but my milk supply decreased from being sick before so I'm afraid if I get sick yet again it's going to have an even worse effect on my milk. Anyone have any suggestions for keeping myself and baby well?

  • Good hand hygiene....that's about it. DD2 was sick within the first couple of weeks of her life thanks to big sis. It's the reality of having 2 unfortunately. In a way it is was better for me to get sick before DD2 because then I would build up antibodies that would then be passed on to DD2 in my breast milk to protect her. They will both be sick a lot for the first few years, but they will be fine. Try not to stress.
