Light menstrual cramping

I feel like I always have a concern..but I'm almost 16 weeks and for the last few weeks I've felt like I've had this light menstral cramping off and on, it's not unbarable or anything I was just curious if this was normal. And I did go to the 3D clinic to see my baby and the tech said my baby looked great and to keep up whatever I was doing, but since there not actuall nurses I just wanted to ask other soon to be mammas if anyone's had this cramping.

Re: Light menstrual cramping

  • If you aren't bleeding, i wouldn't worry, but I would still mention it to your OB. It honestly could even be stretching pains that just feel a little crampy to you, or it could be gas. There are lots of things it could be. Like I said, mention it to your OB, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

  • 16 weeks here too and have been having light menstrual cramps- I did cramp throughout my pregnancy with #1 so not too concerned- I know the uterus is stretching a lot from 12-20 weeks so they say it is normal to have some cramping- also if I sit too long or long car rides I notice it more- I know it is scary though, still worries me from time to time but I just try to not think about it!

  • It's normal! As your uterus grows you will feel a stretching/ pulling its very normal!:) as long as you aren't bleeding you should be fine
  • Ditto on everything above! I had light cramping with my first (healthy) pregnancy and this one too. I've always attributed it to the stretching and growing. Sitting in a warm bath and drinking an extra glass or two of water often helps. (I read somewhere that with all the "growing" your body can get a bit more dehydrated, which is why the water helps.)
  • I have mild cramping at almost 15 weeks and have heard its normal from multiple people. :)
  • I've heard that this might be called round ligament pain as the uterus gets bigger it stretches the muscles and ligaments in the lower abdomen and causes a cramping type of pain.
