High blood pressure!?

So I'm 24 weeks pregnant with my first child and every little thing I'm panicking at! I went for my antantal yesterday and I had a trainee midwife as mines away! It appears I have a very high blood pressure, )I don't drink or smoke) but she said that my blood pressure was very high but done nothing about it just let me go home, is this right? It could be nothing and me just worrying

What is "antantal?" Have BPs been consistently high? One high reading is not necessarily cause for concern.

  • I second what is an "antanal", also one way to help with the high blood pressure is to stop freaking out over every little thing. Your LO is just find until your doctor tells you otherwise. so stop freaking and your BP will go down.

  • Mine was slightly high at my last appointment and my doctor wasn't concerned at all. I've had it taken twice since and its been normal. I would just relax and see what your next appointment brings.

Dude, the tone of your post made MY blood pressure spike. If you're freaking out about every little thing it's not a shocker that your blood pressure is high. If you are concerned, call your OB about things you can do to lower it but honestly, you might want to start with a big dose of daily prenatal yoga (it really helps!)

I also second @KonaCoffeeBean‌ 's post - I'd consider switching your avatar as you've forgotten your pants in the current one.
  • I have high hypertension also and have an Antenatal nurse come to the house twice a week to check up on us. My advice to you is to just relax and not to add any unnecessary stress to you and your baby. If need be, they can place you on medication to assist with your condition. Put your feet up and rest up mama!
  • High blood pressure in pregnancy in mid /late pregnacy cannot be brushed under the carpet. Medical professionals don't always get this right. I am a good example. Thanks to my husband being medical doctor. Relax , worry less.amd monitor ur bp. U can buy your personal bp checker to check your bp. There are safe medications for women that develope high bp in pregnancy. Note: It could lead to pre-eclampsia.

(Please say no, please say no) Are you sitting on the toilet?!? First thing I noticed, and can't really concentrate on the rest of your question now.

ETA that was to OP, obv, not you, Katarina!
