restless leg syndrome

Anyone experiencing this? Any tips to relieve the annoyance of it?

Re: restless leg syndrome

  • My legs are like crazy and my BF hates trying to sleep next to me but having them rubed down with lotion each night seems to help or atleast feels good for a while!

  • Yup but I'm afraid I can't offer you any cures as this drives me crazy too. Experienced it before I was pregnant though which was often due to inactivity. Not so easy to cure at 35 weeks
  • I have always had it since teenager, mine is related to anxiety :(
  • I get it bad some nights!! The only thing that usually helps me is stretching. Try sitting Indian style for a few minutes and lean forward and backward. It's helped me whenever I get them ;)

Tons of water, elevate legs, and eat bananas.
  • OH MY GOSH YES! It always kicks in right as I'm falling asleep. Argh. If it's bad I get out of bed and do some slow mild meditation style yoga stretching. It really helps. I'm fast asleep pretty soon after that.
  • I get it at night too! I just try to stretch and take a bath before bed.
  • I have it bad. Cutting caffeine helps tremendously! Sometimes I take Tylenol which does the trick. Massage and stretching helps too.

  • I've found that water helps ALOT. I stretch it out and drink plenty of water, and it goes away. I had it pretty bad through the 1st trimester before I took that advice myself
  • I had such annoying RLS with my first pregnancy. For me, it always struck at night. My way of dealing with it was marching in place or taking a walk (although, as I said, it was usually after dark). Stretching or rubbing would not help because it always felt like pent-up energy.
  • I get RLS bad too. As the other moms have said stretching really helps relieve it for me or having my SO rub my legs.

Sorry, I empathize, I mean we already can't sleep... this on top of it is the worst!
  • This is such an annoying symptom!! i get this every night now, what helps me is to do a few squats, stretch and then try to massage each leg with some lotion. seems to work every time! but every one is different.
  • My OB said that sometimes it can be caused my a mineral deficiency and to take two tums before bed and surprisingly I have been sleeping better. I have severe RLS sometimes where I can't drive even. May not work for everyone but harmless to try!
  • I have been using magnesium supplements (checked with doc safe for pregnancy) and they seem to help! As well as keeping them cold which sounds strange but I find leaving my legs out of the blankets and letting them get cold has helped a lot!
It really is the most annoying dumb thing to deal with!
